Why would they ask themselves why they're losing when they just won? Trump winning in 2016 has been a disaster for the Republicans in every election that followed. That should be a lesson for you, but clearly it hasn't been.

If Trump wants to intimidate "disloyal" republicans, does he back primary challengers within the party, or try to run a third party candidate against him in the general election? The choice is obvious. Which is why the repubs who are bucking him right now should know that another political party is an empty threat but the primary challenge is not.

He could do both. He could play kingmaker in the primaries, and if that doesn't go his way, run a few independent candidates to in races to split off some votes from those he is taking revenge on.
