Slavery isn't codified anywhere in the constitution. The EC is a function of being a republic 50 states.

Full diversionary mode, huh? And wrong. The Constitution codified slavery with the 3/5 rule for apportionment, the basis for the electoral college. As we've seen, the EC has become an exploitable flaw in the system, a way to claim legitimacy for minority rule & a radical right agenda. It didn't always work that way. The EC & the popular vote gave the same result between 1888 & 2000 so it was a harmonious thing. Now it's not.

You are an Olympic Gold mentalist in the all around competition in Mental Gymnastics. Keep up the training. You are still a bit wobbly on the landing, though. You’ll have down soon. You have refined the dips, twists and all the other technical items. Keep going. Practice makes perfect.

Just remember folks, what these Trumpies are doing, they're not doing this out of patriotism and pride, they're doing it out of the fear and hate that's been driven into their heads like pile drivers over decades worth of time by their Repub Party leadership.

Don’t let them off so easy. They may be brainwashed, but when they start shooting people they deserve life in prison not an insanity plea.

Why did you italicize republic? What does being a republic have to do with the EC?

I've found that Trump supporters like to mumble about republic when you talk about the popular vote and casually mention that the majority of American's vote the "fuck republicans" ticket.
I've yet to find one who can actually describe what a Republic actually is.

It usually descends into whataboutism

They are taught to say Republic as if that implies we have no democracy here.

Not to worry, my post was meant as a reminder that Trump's supporters gave no quarter in supporting his racist leanings yet don't expect the same treatment in return because to them being racist is being on the side of "time honored tradition" going way back to the "good 'ol days" where whips and chains was good for keeping things manageable.

Understood. It’s also like when you study civilization and realize that religion was the first way to control the masses. Seems that this goes hand in hand with their overall message. Still a civil society needs to punish this behavior in a way that makes the next group know it’s not acceptable.

That's a losing strategy on every front, and a surprising bit of hubris to boot. What gives you the right to punish those that disagree with you? You believe yourself superior to those others and believe you have the right to control them, while at the same time declaring yourself a progressive. Your plan to bring enlightenment to the masses is based on repression and the denial of entitlements.

I think your speaking from anger rather than logic, I also don't think you'd take any of the actions you suggested.
He's saying give those people what they vote for. They vote for no worker protections and against government spending including infrastructure. Let them have it. Same with farmers and subsidies, wwhy should Dems keep giving those to them when they vote for the party against them?

FUCK’EM

This is what they want, fuck them. No more public monies to them, they don’t want extended unemployment then fuck them. Want extended union benefits, well fuck you this is what you elected.
I know three dudes in construction, two are solidly Trumpers third isn’t because he is black. He definitely isn’t a Biden guy by choice. These low IQ turds need to learn from their mistakes.

So would getting a few million people to change their votes. It seems to me that if you need to change the constitution to win an election you're doing something wrong.
No need to change the constitution to switch to a popular vote.

That being said as others have mentioned the idea that whatever is currently in the constitution is the good/right way to do things seems pretty blind to the fact that the electoral college in particular was created in significant part to protect slavery by using the 3/5ths compromise.

Presumably we all agree the parts protecting slavery were bad?

As a fellow strict originalist (Hi Donnie! Nominate Meeee!) I find the currently fashionable idea that Africans imported to our shores, and their descendents, are somehow NOW more than 3/5ths of a person patently absurd!

Fuck you...
No being more serious, I sort of enjoy you man
What I am saying is these guys voted for this, they will continue to vote for it. Why should any lawmaker craft legislation regarding union work or whatever when the people it is targeted at prefer not to have it or any for that matter.
I’m going use the the @s0me0nesmind1 new saying. Why be a Bulldozer parent and remove all obstacle from these dudes. They need to be accountable for what they vote for.
Like Trump and Republicans great keep voting them in. I am tied of being the bulldozer. Dummies need to learn, pain incentivizes learning.

Hold on. If fear and hatred have been pile-driven into their heads, @tweaker2, just how will causing them more pain cure them as @Fanatical Meat suggests. I find it funny in a similar vein how we treat criminality by threatening more and more retribution for deeds that get committed by people who don't worry about retribution. Please remind me what Jesus said to the criminals he was executed with because I forget.

I see Republican supporters something like blindfolded people swing at a pinata that isn't there or combat robots ducking it out with the control in someone else's hands. I'm sorry but is holds no emotional appeal for me to walk among them in their blind programmed flailings smashing them in their vital parts with a baseball bat. Do unto others is a must for me because I am no less asleep. I just hope I'm in a different place in the sleep cycle.
