Rubio got it right.

And of course they aren't giving him credit. Amazing how dishonest the leftest media is. But then again, reading some comments here it is easy to see why they spin the way they do, liberals cannot handle reality.

Funny how Rubio quotes the NYT for that story and somehow misses the other story.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/08/us/politics/trump-mexico-deal-tariffs.html

The deal to avert tariffs that President Trump announced with great fanfare on Friday night consists largely of actions that Mexico had already promised to take in prior discussions with the United States over the past several months, according to officials from both countries who are familiar with the negotiations.

Maybe Rubio reached his free article limit for the month, lol.

It’s a shame that conservatives feel the need to lie so much about this and we have to rely on the media to do cleanup.

Rubio will flatter Trump by any means required even if it involves praising him for literally nothing as long as he gets Central/South America as his personal foreign policy sandbox and keeps the punitive measures on Cuba coming. He's effectively running foreign policy for the US on anything below Mexico and doing a bad job at it.

Trump told Central Americans for two years he was going to end asylum and turned a somewhat manageable problem into a disaster. What a surprise that this rhetoric spurred a massive inflow. His response was to turn to increasingly cruel deterrents which didn't actually work. He is, in large part, directly and personally responsible for the current situation.

Trump helped create that as well by cutting aid to the countries those immigrants are fleeing from, plus what's posted above by K1052.

It's kind of funny (but mostly sad) how conservatives are trying to use the failure of Trump's policies as a justification for Trump's policies.

If it's in all caps, it MUST BE TRUE:

Trump - "do not anticipate a problem with the vote but, if for any reason the approval is not forthcoming, Tariffs will be reinstated!"

Do it, Donny! Do the tariffs!

Come on, tough guy.

Trump is getting no credit because this is literally what Mexico offered a couple of months ago. Tariffs had no god damn thing to do with it.

Do you understand that? Address the actual facts and maybe the grownups will let you play. Seriously: If were still the 80s, at least, little brainless twats like yourself would get punched out of the room if you tried to bring these bullshit, provable lies into any discussion. Why do you snowflakes consistently demand that your dementia and fantasy be entered into any sort of adult discussion as valid and worthy of any sort of respect?

"Manufactured crisis" LOL

Even many on the left are admitting we have an emergency, a CRISIS at the border. We are being invaded. 133k in May. This was a bipartisan disaster in the making, but Trump is fixing it now. No more pushing it back to the next guy, time to fix this NOW.
We have a humanitarian crisis. It was never a security crisis because rapists and murders are infesting the borders.

Trump was handed the reigns with illegal immigration at a manageable level and then Trump fucked it up.

Someone explain to me why Senate Republicans aren't crafting a bill to address this emergency?

Everyone wants a piece of the red hot Trump economy. Of course people want to come here.

You couldn't pay democratic socialists from Norway, Finland, Sweden and Denmark to come here. They love their democratic socialism!

Wouldn't the House be typically responsible for making that legislation?

No, the Senate could easily draft their own legislation if they wanted to. Apparently they do not want to. Trump could also marshal the resources of the executive branch to craft this legislation, similar to how Obama helped with the creation of the ACA. He has done nothing, however. Odd that conservatives claim this is such a huge problem and yet are doing nothing to fix it on an enduring basis.

If I were you I would be very angry with Trump as he claimed this was an emergency for years and did nothing. If this is actually an emergency how can you forgive his incredibly laziness and irresponsibility?

Every time those guys have tried touching immigration lately it's turned into a four alarm dumpster fire. The GOP cuaucus is too fractured on immigration issues to ever actually cohere around an agreement now. We had a chance a while ago with the Gang of 8 but GOP leaders in the house stuck to the Hastert Rule (which is fucking dumb) and wouldn't bring it up for a vote.

America is basically incapable of solving any big problems now and we're mostly stuck fighting the same fights from decades past.

I was addressing that to Slow as I know he wouldn't understand that the Senate has started bills and passed them on to the House for approval. Basically Republicans don't really want a real solution, they need their boogeyman to campaign on and fool their constituents into believing it's the Democrats fault.

I'm not sure everything is as you think it is.

Nope, it is. Man is that video insanely dishonest. Just how stupid do they think their audience is that they would fall for this? Everyone in Sweden is taxed at a high rate, the poor included. This is true. What the video leaves out is that after the taxes are collected, Sweden engages in large scale income transfers to the poor. Once you count the money people get back from the government they most certainly tax the rich to give to the poor.

Stossel is either a moron or he's counting on his audience to be.

Also, let's not forget the absolute meltdown conservatives would had if we tried to implement an identical model to the 'not socialism' that Sweden has.
