Well shit this entire thread now makes sense when I see Trump's sound reasoning and logic.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/06/politics/war-of-1812-donald-trump-justin-trudeau-tariff/index.html

President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had a testy phone call on May 25 over new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration targeting steel and aluminum imports coming from Canada, including one moment during the conversation in which Trump made an erroneous historical reference, sources familiar with the discussion told CNN.

According to the sources, Trudeau pressed Trump on how he could justify the tariffs as a "national security" issue. In response, Trump quipped to Trudeau, "Didn't you guys burn down the White House?" referring to the War of 1812.

I read somewhere today that Trump is looking at more tariffs for Canada in retaliation for Canada's retaliation to our original tariffs on aluminum and steel. LOL

Trump better be careful...I hear Canada has a tank.

And the best troops

As a Canadian I think it's likely that we're going to seek closer trade relations to the EU and to Asian nations - a process started a few years back anyways. The U.S. simply can't be trusted as rational partners anymore. There'll be some short term pain for us which sucks but ultimately we're a resource-providing country (oil, lumber, livestock) and none of it is going out of style anytime soon. We'll be fine.

Blame Canada!
With their beady little eyes, floppy heads so full of lies, blame Canada!

Meanwhile, North Korea is honorable and brilliant, the US govt needs to figure out how to get Chinese spyware manifacturers back to work ASAP, and Canada is a national security threat bc [...] the British 200 years ago.

Makes sense.

The US is run by morons.
