Merry belated Christmas, the Grinch finally came to his senses.

No link just watching CNN.

I'm surprised that the P&N forum regulars weren't rooting for him to veto it. Trump going against his own party to force the Republicans to go back to the bargaining table with Pelosi to provide even more stimulus money? That's a Socialist wet dream right there.

The piece of shit did it for attention. The last 4 years have all been for his ego. The month after his loss is angry venting for more attention.
This is one of the last if not the last acts of adolescent rebellion he'll ever be able to commit in his life. After this, I sincerely hope no one pays attention to him ever again.

What exactly is a socialist wet dream?

Because most can tell that he wasn't serious about his tweet, he just wanted attention and to drag the Republicans through the mud for 'betraying' him. If he was earnest about getting everyone $2000 dollars, then I would support it. But he wasn't out there constantly blasting the Republicans to work with the Democrats, actively pushing to get what he 'wanted' to happen. Instead he's golfing and just firing off a tweet.

Don't go thinking rationally now silly.

Trump was just trying to keep everyone from getting their $600 peso check. That $600 was the difference maker for 30m Americans that are 3 months behind on rent and will be evicted the moment the protections end.

Anyhow - as of 2 hours ago Trump mentioned that there is "good news" on the COVID relief bill. Ideally that indicates that he made a deal behind the scenes with congressional folks to pass something after the fact. As of right now though, we don't know the answer.

Bills made into law can no longer be amended w/o new legislation.
It really doesn't matter how you want to phrase it - Trump is indicating that something was resolved behind the scenes.

It could be re-writing the bill.

It could be writing a new deal with just the provisions.

It doesn't matter how you phrase it.

Polotico is reporting that Trump signed the bill. calls for spending recisions (aka, aid to foreign countries) and senate will start the process that starts the vote to change the checks to $2000.

You're absolutely correct. He could be.

At this point though, we don't have the information. though and we will see what occurs.

Fake EDIT: Here is the most we have - POTUS statement:

How is the left's fault that Trump wanted more socialism from the bill?

Well thats just grand.

Great to see that shithole countries going to the pockets of drug-lords and warlords is more important than $2,000 checks to the American poor and middle-class.

All the foreign aid Trump complained about was aid his administration requested from congress

Democrats in the House will pass a $2K checks bill tomorrow by roll call. Republicans will oppose and it will die in the Senate.

Fin.

The foreign aid in the bill was requested by this administration. If Trump is against it, just goes to show he is a terrible executive. I mean we all knew that, but also all know he is just doing this for theater, attention and enjoying the power of the presidency while he still has it. Well, everyone but you.

I've stated this multiple times - it ceases to be socialism when you impede the free-market from thriving via totalitarian closure of restaurants, bars, pubs, gyms, hair salons, nail salons, massage parlors, etc....

You - the government are literally the source that is impeding the free-market. Hence, paying for it (which is complete table scraps as seen with the number of small companies falling) is the furthest thing from "socialism". Nice try.

Except that the overwhelming bulk of these govt checks are going to go to people who weren't financially affected by COVID shutdowns.
