Trump security adviser discussed sanctions with Russia before taking office

I think something else we need to know is if Trump/Pence tried to hide it.

I don't think that's a prerequisite to running afoul of the law. Even if you flaunt the behavior, you're still unauthorized, attempting to undermine the sitting government, and doing so with a disputed country.

I think OrByte is looking for obstruction of justice charge for Trump and Pence.

Burn him for lying to the public, sure, but the Logan Act?
The incoming Trump Admin somehow violated the last month of the Obama Admin by speaking to foreigners?
They are not allowed to discuss the policy of the next administration?
Repubs love talking treason behind the backs of our government. Saint Reagan did exactly this with Iran, made a back room deal, even to the point of humiliating Jimmy Carter by purposely not releasing the hostages until Carter left the White House. Just standard MO from our fellow traitor citizens.

Let's not intentionally poke a finger in the chest of those it's not warranted. By all means point out the asshats doing wrong, though.

Watching this administration is like watching a bunch of monkeys trying to have sex with a football. No one knows what the hell they're doing. And on top of that, everyone lies.

Apparently Flynn was in communication with Russia prior to the election.

Obama added sanctions to send a clear message to Russia to knock off their meddling and Flynn was directly undermining that. Logan act violation or treason? Pretty disgusting either way.

Anyone want to take any bets whether or not our oh so patriotic GOP does anything about this?

No comment from our resident trump ball ticklers?

During the Christmas week conversation, he urged Mr. Kislyak to keep the Russian government from retaliating over the coming sanctions — it was an open secret in Washington that they were in the works — by telling him that whatever the Obama administration did could be undone, said the officials

The "he" is Flynn. Mr. Kislyak is the Russian ambassador

Flynn has to be a dumbass. How did he not know that Russian calls were being monitored. He should be fired simply for that. And then telling Russia that you would revisit the sanctions that were imposed because Russia hacked Clinton's campaign to help your candidate? That doesn't smell fishy at all... Not at all.

Trump wanted (maybe still does) Edward Snowden to be executed. But his national security adviser talking to the Russian embassy behind the US government's back is OK?

i thought about posting a thread about this on its own, but sources have reported that Putin is considering giving snowden over to Trump as a 'gift', presumably so he may receive a sham trial and quick hanging as obama intended.

i wonder what obama thinks of this? I wonder what snowden thinks of it? For some reason i think they probably hold similar views about the situation, probably 'quite concerning' to both of them, maybe a bit more for snowden than obama.

This wonderful wide world of Donald Trump is so nutcase. They attacked and held democrats and especially Hillary so damn accountable for ever burp and belch, yet now we witness pure communistic down right unAmerican corruption from this administration "AND" everyone involved from Kelly "CEE" thru every damn one of them in this administration.
YET.....
No one cares?
And every single broken law vetted asking whether the dastardly deed can survive, or slime thru with absolutely no accountability.

Holy shet...
If Hillary dare did even one of these outrageous dastardly deeds, if one Hillary email would have even mentioned anything near whether it happened or nay, republicans would be up the yin yang with congressional hearings.
But not until first jumping to guilt Hillary regardless of fact or proof.

This ...is.... the perfect storm in the making.
This corruption and stupidity AND lack of accountability by this republican controlled congress will allow an alliance to develop.
That unholy alliance between Al Qaeda, ISIS, the Soviets, North Korea, and possibly China. An unholy alliance challenged with one and only one goal.
That taking down of America.

If there is a war, and there "will" be that war, our HUGE MASSIVE error is assuming we i.e. the American way, would prevail as the victor.
Not necessarily so.....
Can you imagine, better yet DO IMAGINE an America where Christianity, constitution and freedom are in fact defeated and the "new" taking over in every household is Islam via dictatorship as the rule from shore to shore.

We assume our way of life is destine to prevail. Destine to overcome all threats near and far.
Not necessarily so.....
This corruption and blatant disregard for American law and justice by this administration including every single member of from A thru Z absolutely sets our way of life up for the taking by external forces.
The forumla is a simple one....
One unholy alliance.
One nuclear attack on just one major American city.
Toss in a world that has turned its back.
And there you are....
The new dress code for American women, the hijab.
Our religion, Islam.
Our rule, dictatorship.
And our law, arrest then murder.

And all of this courtesy of an orange haired buffoon that idiots and morons have so willingly placed into power.

Stay tuned...
Watch and wait as that most unholy of unholy alliance begins to take shape.
It is inevitable.

Man, it must suck for snowden to realize he is literally a political chip in the pocket of vladimir putin, likely to be spent on the political fortunes of a reality-tv-star turned fascist-authoritarian. The whole situation is kafkaesque.

Well here's a good thing for those critical of Snowden. It appears that Trump may have made a deal with Putin to send him back to the US. For those who feel him a traitor who embarrassed the previous administration and the snoops, rejoice. Revenge is just a flight away.

I guess the Trump distrust of intelligence community rant is an attempt to preempt this from sinking him?

And if the intelligence community was already monitoring this, it would explain the infighting.

But then it surely would have leaked. Maybe I am just thinking too much.

To update:

Flynn has apologized to Pence. Of course, the White House claims that Trump is in full support of Pence, and Conway and the rest are issuing a non-denial.

The hilarious bit is that the Trump camp thinks this helps make the problem go away. If anything, it makes it worse: it lends credibility to the Washington Post's sources, and suggests that it's not willing to distance itself from suspicions of colluding with Russia. I can see why the White House wouldn't want to ditch Flynn quickly (such a shakeup early on wouldn't look good), but it had better hope like hell that firm evidence of collusion doesn't emerge. If it does, the whole administration is in hot water.

The acting attorney general informed the Trump White House late last month that she believed Michael Flynn had misled senior administration officials about the nature of his communications with the Russian ambassador to the United States, and warned that the national security adviser was potentially vulnerable to Russian blackmail, current and former U.S. officials said.

The message, delivered by Sally Q. Yates and a senior career national security official to the White House counsel, was prompted by concerns that Flynn, when asked about his calls and texts with the Russian diplomat, had told Vice President-elect Mike Pence and others that he had not discussed the Obama administration sanctions on Russia for its interference in the 2016 election, the officials said. It is unclear what the White House counsel, Donald McGahn, did with the information.

Jesus the Trump Admin knew. They all lied. They just didn't care until it got out.

This could drop the hammer on all the compromised Russian plants in the white house. Unless the idea is to try and play it that Flynn was operating solo ? He could talk if he needs to save his skin.
