Hey, it looks like he is actually draining the swamp!

Well, first step, anyway.

I actually feel sad for Flynn. He commits a little light espionage for his boss, and gets thrown under the bus as soon as it comes to light. All that time spent leading "lock her up!" chants, and this is how they repay him. There's just no fucking justice.

No 3 am tweet on the subject? This must make him furious, because it strikes at the heart of what is most important to him: Appearances. He's got to scrape all the Flynn cooties off of himself pronto. I'm looking forward to the tap dance he's going to do, especially the part where he spins on one foot.

I read up on Flynn's bio, and have come to the conclusion that he was actually the "good one" amongst Trump's crew of advisors. He was probably trying to warn the Russians not to trust Trump, because he will backstab them at the first opportunity. That's right, Flynn is the good guy in the story.

Now without Flynn, it will be left to Bannon to right the ship.

You need to update your Trump playbook -- there will be no 3am tweet. No press conference for official comment. Trump just likes to completely ignore actual and MEANINGFUL events that shed any negative light on him or his administration. He will tweet about crowd sizes, Nordstrom, Mar-a-lago or something else frivolous and pointless. Distract. Distract. Deflect.

I think that was his position all along, a Bannon strategy. Get the muppets to do your dirty work, clean them out ASAP to look like you are "cleaning out the dirt," continue on with the same policies that you used them to initiate.

Let's be clear, the communication is said to have happened in December.
That's what the media reported, and that still holds true? Your suggestion is contrary to the timing.

There has been contact via Flynn since at least '15. And you're forgetting Manafort and Page as well.

December is the sanctions call. Who says that was Flynn's first contact with the Russians. Maybe contact during the campaign?

Trump adviser Michael T. Flynn on his dinner with Putin
Wow... even if innocent in any corrupt action, the optics could not be worse. Opponents will never believe otherwise.

Does anyone know what power the Congressional minority has to hold hearings, and to subpoena witnesses? I'm assuming that's logically what should happen next to follow up on the subject.

Congressional minority has absolutely no power to conduct an investigation. The ability to hold hearings, subpoena witnesses and documents, etc. flow from the power to conduct investigations, so the short answer is they can do absolutely nothing without the cooperation of majority party committee chairs.

The most interesting aspect remaining to me at this point:is that will Flynn fall on his sword and claim Trump knew nothing of these conversations in the event there is actually an investigaton. I strongly suspect that is the case-look at how well that worked out for Oliver North's career.

What's disgusting is that the majority should be holding hearings and starting investigations. That they will permit this kind of activity within their own party and their own government is going to cause for real riots.

And if so, then Trump is out of the loop with his own top advisers and a negligent leader of this country and should resign.

According to the NYT Flynn is already under investigation by multiple federal agencies.

In the UK it is said that: "The role of the Official Opposition is to question and scrutinize the work of the Government." I imagine that same role should belong to our minority party here. In which case having the vice chairman (ranking members) in committees share this authority to conduct an investigation would seem to make sense. To hold the majority to account.

Just a PSA for any further discussion that "The White House had examined a transcript of a wiretapped conversation that Mr. Flynn had with Mr. Kislyak in December, according to administration officials."

Is Pence seriously claiming he had no access to any of this that he had to take Flynn's word for it? O rly?

Conservatives are that fucking stupid or at least pretend to be, but hopefully at least the liberals will see this for what it is.
