I don't know, I think even a minor cold would make Turmp very miserable, and even mild COVID (outside of full on asymptomatic) is rougher than that. My concern is more that he'll get it and die and it'll spur conspiracy theory that he was assassinated and it will trigger these unhinged people to en masse go apeshit. That is going to be very bad, as I guarantee it will become violent very quickly.

What with how the Repub leadership has riled up their base with lies, false accusations, fear and hate driven conspiracy theories for so long and then having Trump hyping and driving that all along at his campaign cult gatherings, it's certainly plausible that a lot of the Repub constituency have matches and fuses already in hand, some probably hoping for Trump to lose so they can light'um up and start the shit rolling, to you know, fulfill their patriotic duty as militia fighting against the enemies of the state.

Yeah, its a truly awful thing. Last thing I want is that clown to be enshrined as a martyr and galvanize the hatred he spews and used to manipulate those that operate their lives around such hate.

One of the most amazing things about the Trump admin is that they just lie whenever it suits them. Pence says the CDC is revising the guidelines for schools reopening downwards. The CDC says they're not.

Texas & Florida claim to be in compliance with the guidelines when they're obviously not, of course, just to keep Trump happy.

Meaning safety for the kids be damned, "we must get them back in the schools". Trump wants results without having to do the work behind it so he can take credit.

Kinda related to this thread: Lamar Alexander and Chuck Grassley won't be attending the GOP convention in Jacksonville.

I saw Pence on TV last night and was just horrified to hear his bald-faced lie... he said that all Americans know that it's completely safe to open schools. He's a complete shit. I will give him zero credence going forward no matter what. He's a complete ass-hole.

A whole bunch of Texas GOP muckety-mucks just unclenched their quivering bungholes, I suspect. They're not all stupid. They just sell the stuff.
Dan Crenshaw (the GOP Pirate) actually stated as much yesterday. He said that he was thankful the Mayor canceled the convention because it kept the GOP from having to do it and take the political and monetary hit that would require.

Trump campaign announced the proposed rally in New Hampshire is postponed due to the tropical storm's path.

Can't he just draw a new path like he did before with the hurricane?

Well guess what, not only has there been a spike in the state of Oklahoma, but the state's governor, Kevin Stitt, who went to Trump's rally, just tested positive for COVID-19.

Says the rally was "too long ago" to have been the source. 25 days. Not sure about that as I've heard it can take that long. He was just tested because he is symptomatic as of now.

Guess that can happen if you have 'Stitt for brains'.

Even if he didn't get it directly from someone at the rally; it seems entirely plausible that whoever he got it from got it from someone at the rally. Wouldn't it be cool if contact tracing was a thing we did here?

Yes, I would assume that if he didn't get it at the rally, he got it from the general spike which occurred after the rally.

Trumpie don't wanna know. Knowing things is so inconvenient. He spins, spins spins. Get the voter dizzy, that's his m.o. And Republicans up and down the ladders don't dare cross Trumpie... it's political suicide. Too many people turn against any Repub who tries to distance himself from the cheato. Such is the state of GOP politics nowadays. Very much a sicko bunch. Sick in the head, many soon to be sick in the lungs.

Oklahoma governor tests positive for COVID-19...

Yes, he is. Funny thing is, I never heard the word "maroon" used as a variant of "moron" until social media came about. But the origin of it is evidently...Bugs Bunny.

Some people claim, laughably, that it was a subtle racist reference in the cartoon because evidently a "maroon," among other meanings, referred to a certain group of fugitive slaves.

Yea, that last part is quite a stretch.

Apologizing for what? The fact that a cartoon from the 1960's was the point source for that colloquialism? I didn't even know it myself until I googled it hours ago. I just kind of wondered where it came from. I watched that cartoon religiously as a kid and didn't even remember it.

From the 40s and 50s.

Not 60s.

The classic Looney Tunes and Bugs Bunny cartoons were from the 40s and 50s and were targeted for adults, not children, as fillers in cinemas.

If they wrote them for kids they wouldn't be funny. Even lots of SpongeBob Square pants stuff is directed to the adults, thus the success. Cartoons tailored for kids almost invariably suck.

Wiki says the series was produced from 1930 to 1969. I hadn't realized that it was produced that far back, so thanks for the fact check.

I found the Bugs and Daffy cartoons to be hilarious, as a child. If they are produced for adults, why do children find them funny? I think with a lot of cartoons they are made for children as a prime audience, but the writers include jokes that only adults tend to get.
