First, what has he gained that he didn't already have? What has he lost?

It really isn't my job to disprove your thesis.

I'll say this though, his policy positions are not optimized for self promotion.
But Trump actually wanting the (for him) shit job of president? No.
Do you think campaigning is a dream job? He's been out there almost a year doing it.

Not in the slightest. I think Zaap has psychological issues that make him cynical and distrusting, but I did ask you for your opinion, and now I get the feeling maybe you didn't answer because you too are distrusting and suspect some kind of trap. Clearly you thought Zaap to be off somehow. Just wondering why.
The simpler explanation (to me) is that Trump is doing this because he actually wants the job. How many crap sandwiches has he had to eat since getting in this race? Why do that if you're just trying to promote the "Trump brand"? Why take policy stances that are so divisive? It makes no sense to me. I also think that any presidential candidate has some ego issues.

My question is why does Zaap mot see the simpler explanation, that in the face of the simpler and to my mind obvious facts he takes a tortured view. How do you account for his perceptions being so seemingly far off?

I have no idea. With Trump people don't seem to be sane in their criticisms, something about him gets people riled up into irrationality.

so quoting drumpf and pointing out his lies, misspeaks, double backs, double downs, is now considered irrational? you may have that backwards bucky.

Attention for this long, and this focused. The ability to now forever promote himself as a guy who ran for president.

It's hilarious to me that people think Trump is or ever has been any stranger to self-promotion and attention-whoring. He's been doing it from the start.

This question is kind of like asking, why would the man want a reality show on a major TV network vs. just doing his damn job building hotels and whatever else Trump actually does.

THE ATTENTION.

Duh.

Why isn't Tim Cook setting up his reality TV show instead of running Apple?

What has he lost?
Lost? Nothing. He doesn't give a damn about anyone else's notions of crediblity or relevance. Trump is into promoting Trump. This has been doing it for him- big time. Here we are talking about him.

I'll say this though, his policy positions are not optimized for self promotion.
LOL policy positions. Like his "Build a wall" nonsense? Again, he doesn't care about policy positions being well thought out and actually practical, it's about putting on a show and getting....

there it is again...

ATTENTION.

Again, kind of laughable question when you consider.. this is Trump!

It's the greatest chance to attention-whore and self-promote he could have ever stumbled across. It's not work to him, this is the time of his fucking life! All cameras on him, headlines about him, attention of the entire world directed at him. He's lovin' it. the goof couldn't possibly have worked out better.

And speaking of attention-whoring goofballs who get off on any soft of attention, be it "batshit insane" negative, or on occasion positive... why would I be surprised that our resident attention-whore putting on his crazy act aka: Moonbeam- would bristle at another attention-whore being called on it? 😀

Well, trump finally shows his supporters in the plain, simple language that they apparently need to understand what most figured out months ago. He's quite crazy and dips into racism. Curiously, the judges father came to the US before Trumps haha. He's more American than trump is.

I'm intrigued what is the source?

OTOH, the attention he'd get from being President may well blind him as to what he's getting into. Just imagine Donald J Trump right up in everybody's face for a whole 4 years. I'm sure the idea makes his putter flutter.

What he said sounds very bad, but I was hoping that the original source (WSJ) included a more complete interview. I'm always a skeptical when I see interviews that contain sentence fragments without context, including the question that they were asked, and where the most damning parts are paraphrased.

I really don't want to give Trump benefit of the doubt on this, this commentary is not out of place with statements he's made in the past, if more overt. But I've seen published interviews that vastly betrayed the intention of the original transcripts thanks to heavy editing interspersed with poor assumptions on the writer's part. The way that the quotes are being presented here raises a ton of red flags to me, why can they not present complete questions and answers?

Here's one...says before Trump's mother, not fazher. http://www.ifyouonlynews.com/politics/oops-father-of-trumps-mexican-judge-became-a-u-s-citizen-before-trumps-mother/

Trump praises the judge for his ancestry. You guys are bigots. 🙂

Trump said two things that are true, as he believes:

We're building a wall.

The Judge is Mexican.

One of those things is true for sure, the other....we'll see if he keeps his promise.

So there are two guys in a bar and you walk in looking for Bob and are asked; Is he the black guy or the caucasian guy? 😉

Sometimes we just are what we are. Since I'm not PC, I'm not offended.

You realize this is grassy knoll level stuff, don't you?

and exactly what does his ethnicity have do with ANY-FUCKING-THING pertaining to this case?
It wasn't said accidentally, it was another tweet of his dog whistle
megyn kelly even called him (or his subordinate in this case) to task on it, and hard. I feel a little dirty agreeing with her, but she did show some gumption here:

watch the video.
http://www.vox.com/2016/6/3/11852212/fox-kelly-trump-curiel

Ok, there's actually another video. I assumed the one I posted was this one. My bad, but both are worth the watch (this is the one with the drumpf lackey)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-VRbP4cNPs

Maybe our journalists rediscovered their reason for getting into journalism. They're finally, finally, not easing up on drumpf and his bigotry, lies and flip flops.
Keep your boot to his throat, and keep the good, solid questions coming.

When stuff like that happens the interviewee raises holy Hell with denials & it doesn't span different news sources. Trump has basicallly repeated it & has issued no denials.

At first it seemed like he is an egomaniac buffoon but it is now difficult to shake the feeling that he is a sociopath who harbors something truly sinister. I have every confidence that Americans will reject the insane as president.

Boy, whenever that dogwhistle is blown you answer right away.

This has been all over the news. You can search for Trump's most recent CNN interview with Jake Tapper I believe and listen to it in it's entirety.

I think Trump has said these things to rally the base, as in the previous week(s) it has been questioned whether he was going to follow through on the Wall. Maybe Trump doesn't really mean it. OH LOOK A WAR WITH A MEXICAN JUDGE!

And you're all tripping over yourselves to join to the war, so much as to debate the meaning of La Raza. As if it has any other context in this country, given its parent group's recent history. It's red meat for the "border war".

This is just a continuation of Trump drawing lines. A step too far? Polls will say...
