The Republicans will win the House and Senate...this investigation will go nowhere once that happens.
The House and Senate have no control over DOJ criminal investigations..... They can of course put an end to the Jan 6 house investigation but that is not a criminal investigation....

As for Budget .... dream on.....

Only thing in recent news about this are the rumours that Garland seeing if a special counsel is needed.

But what’s with the dumb comments about why haven’t they charged him and if R’s take back congress, they’ll squash this investigation?

Garland really wants the whole issue to go away. He doesn’t have the balls to continue if Rs turn up the heat.

The Republicans have already indicated that if they take Congress, they'll impeach Biden. I have zero doubt they won't stop there...Harris, whomever gets appointed as her VP, then the next and the next...

There’s all these weird ideas of what republicans will do if they take co tell of Congress that have no bearing on how Congress actually works.

What Republicans will do is investigate Biden endlessly, impeach him and fail to convict him once or twice, and provoke a debt ceiling crisis that will end up with them caving yet again. Maybe a government shutdown.

The smarter Republicans want Don convicted too. 1 - Gets him the fuck out of the way. 2 - Gives them something new to attack the Democrats for that will play well with the MAGATS they need to get elected. The only difficulty is whether they pardon him or not next time they're in power, but Don could easily be dead by then. Not a bad coin toss.

You do realize the republicans have zero ability to remove Biden from office even if they win both houses, right?
He obviously doesn't realize this obvious fact, well, it should be obvious to anyone who has witnessed all the impeachments of POTUS in recent years.

Any POTUS can be impeached (conviction is another matter), but so far there has always been some pretext for a reasoning behind it. What pretext can the Rs come up with to challenge Biden's qualification to continue in his office? The bullshit about a stolen election? If the R's mount impeachment proceedings against Joe Biden it's just a baseless attempt to fool the uncommitted into bothsidesing Trump's sins.

I feel like we are going to learn just how far 'any reason or no reason' goes when it comes to impeachment.
I am wondering. We have been seeing America descend into a dumpster fire since 2016. And things are nowhere near as bad as they can become in the next 5-10 years. What can be expected if things get markedly worse? We need democracy to have any chance and the R's are doing their damndest to gut it. VOTE BLUE ya'll!

Lock of the century guarantee: a republican House will impeach Biden at least three times and Trump will crow that he's the most impeached president ever.

I think one impeachment is a mortal lock. Further impeachments probably depend on how that first one goes.
They can literally just call for a vote without any investigation. Even for the removal, senate doesn’t really need to present any evidence to prove the allegations. Present the counts. No objections? Let’s vote.

What would they gain by impeaching Biden without real cause? I don't see it happening, unless they impeach him for wearing a tan suit or something. It won't pass the Senate, or get close to two thirds even if the GOP do end up with 53 seats after tomorrow.

Out of spite. The 3 time impeached!!!!!! But look at Moscow Mitch. Yes he doesn’t want to worry about the orange monkey. But he also didn’t want to be the majority leader that removed his president.

I guess more time and energy spent trying to do futile performative impeachments on Biden means less time spent tearing down freedoms or repealing progress over the last few years. So there's at least that as a silver lining.

Looking forward to watching McCarthy try to corral his caucus away from voting on like Garland's 3rd impeachment to vote on cutting Social Security.

Right? It isn't like they'll do anything else that'll be good for the country as a whole. Just more damage out of spite and rolling things back, like you said.

They mostly don’t want to do anything with power anyway other than cut taxes for rich people. Just look at 2017 - after that rich tax cut they basically did nothing else.

If you ask them what they want to do they want to defeat litter boxes for kids in school or drag queen story hour or whatever, things that are made up problems for them to get mad about.

Could things get more stupid in the USA than this? I suppose they could. If Trump can't find something to crow about he'll make up something.
Oh, some fun possibilities:
- Installing Trump as Speaker of the House next January
- Republicans blackmail the White House to sign tax cuts for billionaires, otherwise the Republicans will both shut down the government sending workers home, and block paying government obligations via debt ceiling
- Awarding Congressional Medal of Honor to Mr. Trump (via act of Congress, to waive the military service requirements)

To be honest the best thing DOJ could do would be to indict Trump prior to his declaring he is running for re-election which basically means this or next week....
That's my expectation as well, since DoJ didn't do it at the close of the J6 summer session. At that point, you gotta wait until after the election.

And because Trump is thinking of declaring in the next few weeks, that indictment better come at the end of this week or next week

No matter what Republicans will all say it's purely a political play - no matter if they take congress or if Dems miraculously hold on - but it needs to be done.
