I don’t think so. There was media speculation that the case would be assigned at random using the DOJ computer that assigns cases—but the fact that both Cannon and Magistrate Reinhardt (who authorized the FBI search of MAL) are assigned to the case means that DOJ is likely keeping them on since these indictments were derived from materials seized in that search. It’s almost like the DOJ is doing everything they can NOT to put their thumb “on the scale” and give Trump/GOP a weaponization narrative—not that it matters.

Who knows…maybe that 11th circuit smackdown taught Cannon a lesson? Maybe she’ll want to play this one “by the book” as likely the defining case of her career? We’ll see.

Interesting over at Fox, they apparently have no shortage of Trump idiots/loyalist willing to go out there with their BS trying to convince no one other than themselves that this indictment will go nowhere. Yet it's rapidly going somewhere, and going there fast.

It's funny how the Trump loyalist appearing on TV will toss every conspiracy they can at the wall to see what sticks. Like, this is all some collusion between Biden and Garland to eliminate Trump from the election. Or, that this is a distraction to distract from the Hunter Biden revelations or, that what Hillary did with servers is much worse than the theft of a few classified documents.

Someone is really really scared. They are pulling out all their guns to defend Trump. And I'm guessing that if Trump loyalist are so scared then that means Donald Trump is really scared. Trump is panicked and he's directing his taking heads to panic. Everyone is panicked. That tells me the DA has the goods on Donald Trump and they all know it.
I have never seen Fox freaking out and melting down to this extent ever before.

There is no way to remove her from the bench (other than impeachment, which has 0.000% chance of happening with partisan gridlock in congress)

And just one of the "minor" items she has complete discretion over as the judge is scheduling -- absolutely no chance she will permit any trial to happen until after November 2024. Lots of control of how and when the case proceeds that is not subject to any appeal or oversight at all.

You know why? Because Trump will take them down too and they know it, and they do not want to destroy their careers defending a crook like Donald Trump. Smart attorneys to get out ASAP.

And... all of the republican candidates are tripping over themselves to defend Trump. This only reenforces my assumption that Donald Trump wanted these challengers to run against him so that when Trump knocks them off one by one in the debates it will make Trump appear as the great super hero slaying all who dare challenge him. Thus securing Trump's nomination. This was Trump's plan, but now that Trump has been indicted thus screwed, the challengers, the hired challengers, don't know what the hell to do.

The only way he gets out of this is through a pardon.

That tweet is referring to political jams and all Trump needed there was for republicans to stand by him. He’s been desperately trying to wriggle out of this for the last year and a half and has failed utterly.

I'm sure they will all make that claim in the primaries. But there will be zero real ramifications if they don't follow through. If they actually did it they would actually piss off swing voters and give Trump back his huge megaphone that he'll instantly start using against them. I think most of the higher up in the republican party will be ecstatic that he is finally out of the picture.

But no person that actually wants Trump pardoned would vote for a democrat in 2028, so there is basically no fallout from not pardoning him.
