I have no doubt that Trump is, at this very moment suffering from sphincter cramps, terror induced constipation, daytime nightmares and unrelenting episodes of severe infantile colic of which I derive this strange sense of satisfaction.

I want to say that I feel sorry for Melania but then I recall in her moment of defiant affluenza induced hubris she wore a designer jacket proclaiming "I really don't care, do U?" so no shits given in that regard.

Not seriously, BUT maybe she was talking about her husband??
Just a thought.

The scuttlebutt over in right-wing media comments is that any "gotcha" evidence discovered in this raid was planted. Because none of the agents involved were impartial or something like that. They're all out to get Trump, so they wouldn't be above "planting" documents.

But Rodney Kings" family might agree/disagree?

If they don't have something serious then all they did was add fuel to the Trump Fan Fire.

I believe if he broke the law he should be tried and given the appropriate sentence as per the law. Raiding his home with dozens of FBI Agents for documents (if true) was a stupid move in my opinion. Just as stupid as the arrest of Roger Stone in the middle of the night with a bunch of armed agents when they could have approached him and arrested him in the daytime with a couple of agents without weapons drawn.

Tell that with a straight face to any person of color, or trailer park trash even. Those without the means to flee the country at a moments notice.

Is it really stupid?

He thinks minorities with a little bit of weed or coke on them should get treated more roughly than guys who tried to overthrow democracy. These people are not fixable. They are fundamentally broken.

Show me where I ever said anything remotely like that.

I'm betting you think if the cops suspect someone guilty of a drug crime, they are more than right to go in guns drawn or execute a search warrant.

But not the guys that have clearly tried to overthrow democracy, as you stated having guns drawn for Stone, and executing a search warrant on Trump, these things were way too extreme for you.

Yes. Lets bring in the blacks and the poor people.

Trump wasn't even there so how did the raid stop him from fleeing the country?

Yes, it was stupid and just a drama show for the media. They could have accomplished the same thing without dozens of FBI Agents with assault rifles. What were they expecting a private army. Just like Roger Stones arrest. Silly Drama show.

I can't wait to see what was on their get list and see what they actually found.

Depends on the specific drug crime and the person.

I don't think Trump or Stone had weapons and were going to go out blazing away.

You are comparing apples and oranges. Silly.

Getting slightly off topic. But Canadians that are brainwashed with freedum convoy values. They bitched how Trudeau declared state of emergency in Ottawa to clear the 3 week long occupation. Forward to 2 weeks ago, Canadian biker gang, the Hell’s Angels held a multi city rally as a memorial for one high ranking leader. They gathered. They separated the same day. Not a single shit given by most Canadians except these idiotic freedum convoy morons - complained look, Trudeau supports a biker gang!!!! Yeah because they organized a rally but didn’t hold an illegal occupation of a major Canadian city you MORONS!!!!!

Funny how a criminal biker gang is better than right wing moron nut jobs

Smarter maybe, not better. If every HA and HA dick sucker caught a bullet tomorrow it would be a big improvement.

I think attempting to overthrow democracy is a pretty fucked up crime, way worse and more dangerous than many drug offenses. Also there is zero evidence the FBI did anything at Mar A Lago but execute a search warrant, let alone wave guns about like lunatice.

But you have your fucked up values, so you do you.

My take after 24 hours, there is no Trump outrage across the nation at the people level. We only have political maneuvering by congressional republicans and a pathetic bipolar VP Pence hoping to remain “in the loop”.
See….Mike Pence is still the little turd he was always thought to be. He still is full on Donald Trump.

And those republicans coming out to defend and side with Trump, nothing has changed there. The usual suspects. An insurrection never bothered them so why would anything else Trump does bother them?

But I still think the media has it all wrong. This, I believe, will go far beyond the simple mishandling of documents. I think people will be shocked when the details come out. I definitely see Donald Trump arrested and handcuffed. Not kidding. This FBI raid is only a small part of the big picture. Merrick Garland knows something about Donald Trump. He knows something none of the rest of us knows including Fox News and little Lindsey.
Something big is coming down and I do expect to see Donald Trump in handcuffs.

First they hate capital police. Now the FBI

So much for supporting law enforcement

BTW - Trump taking documents that belong to the people of the United States is no different then smash and grabs as a local mall
that depends on what he planned to do with the docs, if it involves russia it could be a whole lot worse.

I don't think they are worried about what Trump or Stone would do. It's the people who rally behind them that might do something that require them to be armed and ready. Case in point, January 6.

My guess is most people are waiting to see what comes of the raid. These things almost always take a few weeks to shake out.
If they found evidence of a serious crime then Trump is history. If they came up empty handed then the FBI once again has egg on their face and Trump will shout it from the roof tops. It seems like it would also help out the republican's in the mid terms if it's another dud.

Hmm…Interesting…let’s rewind a bit to this opinion piece from 2020…

New prediction—it isn’t about GOP kompromat or returning Presidential records to the Archives. DOJ may have had evidence that state secrets were being sent (sold?) abroad and national security was compromised. That would certainly explain a search warrant being signed off on.

Edit: Damn, this plot be thickened like gumbo:

Nevermind the documents already at MAL—did these guys essentially have the power to go back into the Archives and grab intel/dox at the behest of a foreign power??

The man is likely under investigation for any of like a dozen things. Eventually word on what the warrant is for will leak out so we'll see.
Trump could make public the exact nature of the warrant if he chose to do so. AFAIK he has not. The affidavit that the judge ruled on is another story.

This link to the current New York Times front page article on the FBI raid at Mar-a-lago should be accessible here (no paywall) for 14 days from now, i.e. through August 23:

I won't be shocked at anything that comes out, Trump's a slimy crook so nothing would surprise me. And as far as his kult followers, they'll chalk it up to fake news and/or the FBI planted shit to frame him. So basically in their eyes, Trump will still be innocent and still their pick for 2024. And the few MAGA's who realize shit is legit will just deflect by bringing up Hunter Biden & Hillary.

I can see it now, the documents have evidence Trump was selling secret info to Putin that could damage the country. And Trumpers just reply with "oh yeah? Well what about Hunter's Laptop!"

Grifter gonna Grift

Trump could be charged with the Espionage Act of 1917 (the one Snowden was charged with)

Here is the Espionage Act

McCord said that the Espionage Act is one of two federal crimes that prosecutors may be focusing on in their warrant to search Trump’s home. The other, she said, is another federal statute that targets anyone who “willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, falsifies or destroys public records.

Now he's also grifting for money again.

Reuters: Trump uses FBI search of his Mar-a-Lago home to solicit campaign donations.

Putting on my conspiracy hat, the raid could be an attempt to deflect attention away from inflation assuming the feds have inside info that the CPI report today (Wednesday) will show a big jump in inflation. No I don't seriously believe that, it's just something to throw against the wall.

I'm not sure what your worry is about or what point you are trying to make. In CT primaries are closed-only registered Dems can vote in Dem primaries, only GOP in GOP ones. And a race is contested at the party level only if a potential candidate gets enough support (via petitions) to force a primary. CT's GOP politics are pretty much the same as GOP nationally except that we have substantially more conventional/old line/sane ones than the national norm. However the fringe elements tend to turn out to vote in primaries, which generally have a very low level of voter turnout.

It would not surprise me at all if a GOP primary result ends up with a MAGA type being the official candidate. The chances of any of them beating Blumenthal are essentially nil. Especially if the GOP nominee turns out to be a wack job.

Even if the search was somehow illegal, thanks to years of conservative judicial rulings, mistakes made because police didn't know the law are a "too bad, so sad" situation for the defendent, and the evidence doesn't need to be tossed. They'd be reaping what they sow.
I am sorry you have forgotten the Major MAGA exception that says if the defendant is rich and white the evidence gets tossed.
