No, You are my victim! 😀
Don't know how they can say Apple doesn't prominently disclose the opt-out. It's like they've never set up an Apple device within the last few years. The latest edition of creepy is a b*, cause i'd really like one of those home assistants, Echo etc, use Siri on my phone and Cortana on my desktop... But I cant give consent to such a snoop device, nope gotta draw the line.

You're not paranoid, your phone really IS listening to EVERYTHING you say
We've all got those stories about suddenly seeing advertisements on our phones after we were just talking about some random place or thing. It makes us wonder, are our phones listening to us? Some experts say yes, definitely; others say no. Regardless, there are four things you can do today to...www.komando.com
"Your smartphone is similar to smart speakers like the Amazon Echo and Google Home — they listen for “wake” words like “Hey Siri” and “Okay Google” all the time.
These wake words are required for your smartphone to actually start recording. But without these triggers, your voice inputs are processed only within your smartphone and are not sent anywhere, so say the manufacturers."
"If this temporary voice data is not going anywhere, then what’s the problem? In some cases, third-party apps like Facebook or Instagram may still have access to this local data. "
"Using voice tracking for marketing purposes is legal because the privacy policies and end-user agreements you agreed with plus current laws actually allow it. Since it’s a very effective targeted ad tool, it’s not a surprise if companies are using it. "
Are. You. Shitting. Me.
So, assume everything you say is recorded, then fed to a next gen deep neural net AI and from there be able to deduce *everything* about you. Did you read that TOS? And the other TOS? Of course Cambridge Analytica 2.0 has you by the balls, you signed them over yourself. All of you.
Still have an Echo sealed in the box my company gave me as a Xmas gift. Trust no one.Don't know how they can say Apple doesn't prominently disclose the opt-out. It's like they've never set up an Apple device within the last few years.
TikTok skirted a privacy safeguard in Google’s Android operating system to collect unique identifiers from millions of mobile devices, data that allows the app to track users online without allowing them to opt out, a Wall Street Journal analysis has found.
The tactic, which experts in mobile-phone security said was concealed through an unusual added layer of encryption, appears to have violated Google policies limiting how apps track people and wasn’t disclosed to TikTok users.
Look here. How sneaky commie chinese company tiktok really is.

I saw that on IMGUR and thought it fails as a joke because it misstates the reason why a possible ban was discussed.

Your standard phone browser works great with facebook, no issues there.
China can't force Amazon to divulge user data. That's right, TikTok kiddies didn't use an Alexa to troll the Liar in chief's OK COVID party.
Where are Alexa's manufactured?
China can't force Amazon to divulge user data.
China can't force Amazon to divulge user data.
That's not how this works. When Lenovo was sold to a China based company, my job role changed. The U.S. government restricted parts to vetted parts only. My org has separate part numbers for government machines. Merely an example of how serious the U.S. government takes China's influence in electronics.
If Alexa is made in China, it's already suspect. Why would China need to make AMZ hand anything over if the Alexa does it already.
Again, this move by Trump is purely ego related.
That's not how this works.
China can force Tik Tok to hand over ALL user data, censor foreigners, etc. Even if where it was made were an equivalent concern (it isn't), Amazon can move manufacturing to South Korea, or Vietnam, or Brazil, or whatever should it become an issue.
They are.It certainly does work like that.
And tiktok can move out of China if they want.
I wonder why every other social media platform hasn't been treated the same way as TikTok for their Trump-trolling kids.Wonder why Trump didn't bring it up until after his OK COVID party got trolled by kids on tiktok.
They are.
...and just what would make them "want" to move out of China if they weren't being forced to sell?
I wonder why every other social media platform hasn't been treated the same way as TikTok for their Trump-trolling kids.
...also, WeChat. Did you forget about WeChat? WeChat.
WeChat is getting the TikTok treatment too... or did you gloss over that because it doesn't fit your theory that the issue with TikTok is purely about retaliation?
TikTok appeals to more Americans... a dangerously large number of us.Oh no, we just hadn't mentioned we chat. Trump can throw that on there cause he can use the China drum to beat it some more.
So, in your opinion, it's merely coincidence that the US military banned tiktok in 2019, but it wasn't until July that this became a thing for Trump?
Many other apps have been caught doing the similar things as tiktok, yet we dont care about those, lol. It's not about consumer protections, it's not on military phones, so whatever. Are we to believe that all of a sudden consumer protections matter? Lol, yea right.
TikTok appeals to more Americans... a dangerously large number of us.
TikTok has been caught censoring Americans for protected speech critical of China.
TikTok has been caught inappropriately accessing clipboard contents on American smartphones to access data the user did not explicitly provide the app.
Let's not forget that Dr. Li Wenliang was arrested and forced to publicly retract his *private* WeChat warning to colleagues about a new "SARS-like virus" while the government refused to even acknowledge it publicly... and Dr. Li later died of the virus himself.
They are particularly dangerous to Americans due to being broadly used. I know it. You know it. Stop making excuses and conspiracies.
Your feels tho. Nothing was said of this until Trumps OK COVID party was trolled.
You sure about that? I was reminded over and over and over about TikTok/Douyin many from many sources long before Trump said anything publicly about them...

So, no, I didn't hear about it from Trump and then start getting concerned. If anything, YOU are the one reacting to Trump suddenly weighing in when he did.
The talk has been going on for more than a year. You were out of it, apparently. It was obvious it would reach this point, but it seems you didn't expect it.Haha, yea I am sure. It's a reasonable conclusion based on a life history of being thin skinned and retaliatory.
Umm yea, I am reacting to Trump weighing in when he did. How is that in question? It was sudden , you're correct, and you want me to believe it's just coincidence? Yea, not buying it. And Trump can say whatever he wants about WHEN he weighed in, after 20k lies in 3.5 years, his words are meaningless, but still official policy on Twitter 😉
Awesome. US is fighting itself. China and India are saber rattling each other. Now little rocket man is trying to stir the pot again. All this amidst a global pandemic.
I think everyone needs to take a step back, take 10 deep breaths, look at some puppy tik toks and chill.
...but not Tik Tok because it's China-owned and controlled by CCP. They recently banned a Chinese student who lives in USA just hours after he created his account. He only posted criticism of the Chinese government and expressed support for Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Chinese people massacred at Tiananmen Square.
Just checked and, yeah, that was before the Tulsa rally. The talk has been going on for more than a year. You were out of it, apparently. It was obvious it would reach this point, but it seems you didn't expect it.
June:
India banned Tik Tok in June.
Hey, you guys wanna pretend like a vindictive narcissist has some good intentions, that's on you.Just checked and, yeah, that was before the Tulsa rally.
Oh, but it was so "sudden" according to him. 😉
