Are you really incapable of distinguishing honesty as it relates to him saying what he actually thinks from honesty as far as agreeing with the content of his statements? Regardless of the content of his statements and whether you agree with them or not, one should appreciate someone willing to actually speak his mind. That's exceedingly rare for politicians.

lol, our resident expert on everything can now delve into the collective psyche of the "republican far right". Brilliant analysis dr Freud! 😀

Lol.

Trump isn't honest, so to call him "refreshing" just means you've been duped by a snake oil salesman.

Congrats, you're gullible.

So, you're doubling down on "I can't distinguish between someone being honest about what he believes from someone speaking the truth"?

Commending someone for speaking his mind doesn't mean I agree with what he said.

I sincerely doubt he actually believes almost any of the bullshit he's saying. The question I have is how someone would be so naive as to think he did?

Regardless, if you're trying to paint some noble or refreshing distinction between someone saying falsehoods that you think they actually believe as opposed to someone saying falsehoods (or even true things!) that you think they don't believe... uhmm... okay. Knock yourself out.

"Person slandering groups as rapists with genuine conviction" is not an appealing candidate attribute to me.

Who cares if someone is speaking their mind if their opinion is full of shit? I don't find stupidity refreshing at all!

You righties should just come out and say it, you worship stupid. You elect idiots, you praise people who say stupid shit, you watch/listen to people spout stupid shit day in and day out. You righties are either stupid or you enjoy all forms of stupidity.

Would you rather have A) a person who believes xyz and tells you abc, or B) someone who tells you abc when he believes abc? Regardless of what abc is, whether you agree with it or not, I prefer someone who says what he believes. That part is refreshing.

If you don't agree with the content, that's perfectly fine, and I didn't say the honesty made him an overall good candidate. I specifically said his candor is refreshing, regardless of whether you agree with his statements.

No, it wasn't at all relevant (not to mention complete bs).

Okay, so my comment about the collective psyche of far right Republicans wasn't relevant to the discussion about the collective psyche (or id!) of far right Republicans. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Another idiot on the "I can't differentiate between liking the fact that someone says what he thinks and agreeing with the content of the statements" bandwagon.

Sheesh. This isn't hard. I can completely appreciate the honesty of someone even if I 100% disagree with their position on something.

You righties should just come out and say it, you worship stupid.
Clearly not, or I would worship you, and I don't.

Yeah, he's super honest:

But I'm sure this time he's not bullshitting you. Seriously, how do you guys get duped by these clowns?

No we get it, you like people who are honestly stupid.

Hey, PokerGuy, we get it. We just don't think ignorant arrogance is any better than dishonesty.

So, call him a flip-flopper if you'd like. Call him whatever you want, but he says what he appears to think at the time. Like it or not. That is refreshing. If you don't like the flip-flopping, or you think he's a loon because of his positions, that's perfectly fine. I say I like him speaking his mind and saying what he thinks.

Hey, PokerGuy, we get it. We just don't think ignorant arrogance is any better than dishonesty.

No, apparently you don't get it. Those are two completely unrelated things. Someone can be smart and dishonest, just like they can be smart and honest. They can be dumb/ignorant and dishonest, and they can be dumb/ignorant and honest. I prefer someone who says what they think. I didn't make a judgement that saying what he thinks makes him a wonderful overall candidate. Those are two completely different things.

I don't care about flip-flopping, I'm saying that he's playing you like a fiddle. I think he says whatever he believes will get him the most attention at any given moment.

He's just as dishonest as any other candidate, if not more so. The fact that you guys would be talking about the 'refreshing honesty' of a guy who is so obviously lying is mind boggling.

Actually no, he's not playing me at all. A real politician plays people to get votes. They learn to lie, conceal, obfuscate and dance around subjects to maximize votes and minimize anything that could create negative blowback.

If Trump was trying to successfully "play" anyone to gain votes, he'd be much better served to lie and obfuscate like all the others, it's the tried and true way of politicians.

What is he "so obviously lying" about? Are you delving into the content and/or accuracy of the message again instead of focusing on what I said, that I appreciate him saying what he thinks?

I get it just fine, honesty and intelligence are NOT related, and the two should not be conflated. I like the honesty and speaking your mind. That doesn't mean I have to like the positions or statements at all. You (and others) appear to have a tough time grasping that concept.

Really? Because every time I hear him talk I hear him tell us how well he's doing in the polls. If he's not trying to get votes, why run for president and why would he care about the polls?

You are simply back peddling now to save face.

Uhmm, that's exactly what he's doing. He's maximizing support with the conservative base because that gets him the most attention. I'm quite confident he has no illusions that he could actually win the presidency, his statements notwithstanding. (more lies, btw)

He's also quite clearly played you as you appear to believe he's being genuine.

No, I'm saying that to think he has so completely changed his views on a large number of issues within a fairly small expanse of time is extraordinarily unlikely. Imagine if there were an identical video that replaced Trump with Hillary. I'm sure you would be praising her for her candor as well, haha.

What would it take for you to accept that he is not expressing his genuine opinions?

No we get it just fine, we just don't want to hear stupid shit no matter how honest someone is being.
