Those seeking jobs have been told they will have to prove their “enthusiasm” to enact Trump’s agenda and have been asked when their moment of “MAGA revelation” occurred.

Forget qualifications, are you willing to suck Trump's dick?

Cool with it or fascism running amuck?

Remember when Trump altered a NOAA official forecast map. He will only hire people willing to lie to the public when it is to his political advantage.

I've asked this question before - at this point what sane person would work for the federal government?

I realize this is in large parts the point by Republicans - if they can't get cripple the government through enacting legislation the public supports they will look for other ways to defy the will of the people.

The problem is, if all the good folks abandon it, Trump will get the federal government he's been looking for.

Folks should stay in place, and just halt everything.

I get this as a point of civil disobedience and I think that's great - I was more thinking about a future recruitment issue. If you're a smart and capable person getting into a job field where you might be randomly fired, randomly go without pay, etc. regardless of your job performance why sign up for that?

Of course the private sector has job insecurity too where you can get laid off despite doing great work but you generally get paid more, at least for higher level positions. Why take the same instability and less money?

Sort of related ...

The sheer volume of DHS email traffic late last week into yesterday constantly reminding staff to attend the coronation of Queen Kristi Noem was straight up "dear leader" vibes. Encouraging outside gathering to celebrate her arrival ... just creepy as fuck.

I almost made that mistake when they sent me to Anaheim to the home office and I tried to get a job in the civil service maintenance shop that I was a tech rep to. Fortunately, they asked me one more question before they wanted to hire me, where's your military record? I said I was never in the military. Oh......., and that was it. And once, again the stars aligned, and I got to go back to my old site in less than 3 years and take over my old bosses position, and continued as the only member of my immediate family that did not work for the government.

That's the plan. Break it and when people start complaining tell them, "See we told you the federal government doesn't work."

Use that as a predicate to defund it so they can give the rich more tax cuts and end programs that help the middle class.

Part of my predictions from months ago.

The article say's it's for political appointees, and claims that those jobs in the past have been rewards for supporting the new president. Seems like the same old shit to me.

If that were true (it's not), then it would be within the POTUS' authority to simply replace them. They're career positions, which he can't simply replace.

"Every new president looks to fill the thousands of government jobs they control with political appointees — rewarding campaign aides, allies, supporters and donors with plum positions. The White House presidential personnel office exists to recruit, screen and manage those employees.

Asking applicants their political affiliations is common. In some cases it is required, such as when filling jobs on agencies or commissions that require partisan balance".

Seems clear to me. It's obvious the Trump team is taking that to the limit, and it's also very clear that they're not trying to hide it. Maybe we Should go back and see how many hard core leftist's Biden hired for comparison?

I'm talking about civil servants not political appointees. Trump is telling ALL employees they can resign or take a loyalty test. Try another excuse.

Civil servants

2 million workers. Resign or face loyalty test

Do you feel comfortable with officials at NOAA who are more loyal to Trump vs truth in forecasting?

Why would a moderate conservative like Biden appoint "hard core leftists" in his administration and why would "hard core leftists" want to implement a moderately conservative agenda? More to the point, based on the conduct of the administration, he didn't.

It ain't good look, that's for sure.
I don't have an issue with trimming down the federal government, I do have major problems with a loyalty test for employees. For appointments, I would expect those to go to supporters. You never hire anyone that hates you.
I would hope that the supreme court steps into this particular debacle sooner rather than later.

Why does the federal work force need to be trimmed down? Is there some evidence to suggest that the government employs too many?

You're kind of amazing.

Trump rapes a woman.

I don't think the SC is going to have time with all the other shit he's going to pull out of his hat in the next few weeks.

Flood the zone man, flood the zone.
