Didn't we just pay 30 trillion for a wall that Trump had personally built to keep immigrants out?

Where did that money go?

A big chunk of whatever was appropriated to finance His Magnificent Wall must've been kicked back to him in some form or another. Graft is after all Trump's stock in trade, his way of compensating for his being devoid of the actual talent and finesse that's essential for a person in the line of business he fancied himself as the master thereof.

Looks like very slim chances of any deal as Rs back away due to Trump.

Biden should just get them to pass the REPO act to inject $6B into Ukraine's general fund, start expending the remaining $4B in drawdown authority, find out what we have to send them via Excess Defense Articles, and begin reprogramming cash to cover anything else they need.

They do a good job bitching about immigration but their bosses love cheap labor at our expense.

All our money is being spent to house and feed people who aren't even American and get everything handed to them while veterans are waiting long in endless queues.

Only the dems can fix this and they need to make it a fucking issue!!

Did you just quote a Trump speech?

The "if we didn't spend money on x we would not have homeless veterans" trope is so fucking tired. We have homeless veterans because WE'VE DECIDED TO HAVE HOMELESS VETERANS. We have selected this policy regardless of definitely having the money to do something else. Always have, always will.

No sheesh, you should know by now I never watch Fox or Turd speeches.

Just walked by and saw 2 homeless peeps in a cardboard box outside my local Stop & Shop in Queens.

If anything I blame Adams.. he should be taking care of the homeless over the migrants!

Romney out in the open with what Trump is doing.

Haley should pick up on this and point out that Trump did squat to change immigration laws when he was president. That he wants to keep the problem so people vote for him.

Romney isn’t the only one saying this, he’s just the only one saying it’s bad. Several other Republican congressmen have said something to the effect of ‘I don’t want to help Biden by passing something.’

So openly stating they want to make things worse because they think it helps Republicans win.

Some people are comparing this to Nixon's interference in Vietnam prior to the 68 election. But I think that's wrong because only top level LBJ admin people knew that he did it and he even lied point blank to LBJ who knew better. Instead Trump and the GOP are basically yelling from the rooftops that they are refusing to do anything for political gain. There is no guarantee that they'll be punished electorally for this but there certainly is the possibility and running more risks with swing voters seems pretty unwise. Though nobody would say Trump exactly has a surplus of wisdom or good judgement.

A golden oldie regarding Trump's political instincts:

He really may set a record for losing, at least by a major party candidate. I mean the only election he won he lost the popular count by millions and won due to a stupid quirk in our method of electing presidents. In 2018, 2020, and 2022 Republicans suffered major losses due to his toxic brand.

I think the reason he may set a record for losing though is usually parties jettison losers but the Republicans keep coming back for more losing.

Unfortunately people are fickle and love to have their cell phone social media feeds think for them!

Biden has his work cut out for him though and hopefully he can:

That's not a man so white middle class men won't respect her.

Which is a perfect example of why LEGAL immigration is needed.. those white middle class men don't want to marry MAGA buffalos like Roseanne that pretend to be American women!

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if the most often used visa were the Spouse/ Fiance visa!

Well, if the SCOTUS claims presidents have absolute immunity, Biden can just write an EO to fund Ukraine. Spend the rest of the time fighting it in court, but in the meantime, Putin's plan get destroyed.

The problem is she wants what Turmp wants. And Republicans, even the non MAGA ones also often cite immigration as a major reason for supporting Republicans, so going against Turmp on this isn't going to probably benefit any Republican.

Trump and the so called freedom caucus in the House are trying to kill this deal. Republicans in the Senate are working with Democrats to get a bill done.

Republicans are ALWAYS screaming about the border. If this deal is killed it will be Republicans who do it. But they will still complain about border and blame Biden.

Why do we need a new border deal? We have a border. It's illegal to cross that border anywhere but the established points of entry. The federal government is responsible for defending the border and preventing illegal entry. No new legislation is necessary. The laws and duty's are clearly established, all that needs to happen is for the federal government to do their job.

Someone should ask Greenman if it would just be easier to treat the disease (the conditions that make it attractive to cross our border illegally or overstay VISAs) instead of the symptoms (trying to defend our 2000 mile long border).

Yup wonder what they want to change. They won’t axe asylum. Most are crossing at legal point of entry. These people aren’t illegal aliens. For ones that are illegal crossings, Biden admin catching more and deporting more than what the orange monkey admin did. The only solution is to solve why migrants feel so desperate to leave their country.
