Looks like boy scouts are ready for their leader.

At this point, if you are an organization and you invite Trump to speak, you agree with his politics and support his words. I don't care how many Presidents have spoken at your event in the past. Trump does this every time, you know what you are getting. Hell, read GWB's speech at the same event...it's a masterpiece of statesmanship and class compared to Trump's vomit.

I don't think I've ever wanted to beat a politician to a pulp this bad, and that's saying something. What a total POS.

I'm an assistant scout master.
I've seen more Trump supporters in Scouting than anti-Trump folks.
Took some leadership training a few weeks ago and some of the comments out of the other leaders made me cringe.

You got me thinking...

I couldn't imagine being an active Leader on duty and responsible for my Pack/Troop of youths on top of representing my organization at an event turning out like this.

Really, what do you do?

Stay the coarse against your moral compass (if that is the case)? Probably can't even walk out with all the people packed in, and at least some agreeing with him.

Then dealing with some furious, but hopefully understanding, parents when you get back from an event which should've been a positive experience for the kids, and you, to remember for the rest of your life? As well as having your own good name attached to?

Scary stuff.

So Trump suckers invite this asshole to act like a buffoon in front of their kids. Ironically they wouldn't tolerate Trump behavior from these same kids.

Can't believe some of the stuff he says to KIDS...what a loser!! Can't buy class with all them billions I guess.

Nope its why NY society really won't touch him with a 10 foot pole the man has no class. Unfortunately to many Americans the ability to speak without thinking is somehow an endearing quality and a sign of "leadership". We must have a broader issue with lead in the water supply than anyone imagined.

I disagree. Trump, as far as I know, is the first president (and they've been inviting presidents since the beginning I believe), to use this opportunity to talk about politics. By not inviting him they would have made a political decision and for a non political organization that would not be good.

Let's not demonize the BSA, especially when they've already come out and distance themselves from his speech. Instead lets focus on the real issue and that is wanna be strongman trump.

Folks, we have an authoritarian in the making and a Republican controlled Congress that apparently doesn't think they need to put him in check. Fascism is coming and it needs to be stopped now.

Very well said. And yea, there seems to be a glut of punchable faces lately

Scouting Family,

In the last two weeks, we have celebrated the best of Scouting at our 20th National Jamboree with nearly 40,000 participants, volunteers, staff and visitors. The 2017 National Jamboree has showcased and furthered the Scouting mission by combining adventure and leadership development to give youth life-changing experiences. Scouts from Alaska met Scouts from Alabama; Scouts from New Mexico met those from New York, and American youth met youth from 59 other countries.

Over the course of ten days, Scouts have taken part in adventures, learned new skills, made new and lasting friendships and completed over 200 community service projects that offered 100,000 hours of service to the community by young men and women eager to do the right thing for the right reasons.

These character-building experiences have not diminished in recent days at the jamboree – Scouts have continued to trade patches, climb rock walls, and share stories about the day’s adventures. But for our Scouting family at home not able to see these real moments of Scouting, we know the past few days have been overshadowed by the remarks offered by the President of the United States.

I want to extend my sincere apologies to those in our Scouting family who were offended by the political rhetoric that was inserted into the jamboree. That was never our intent. The invitation for the sitting U.S. President to visit the National Jamboree is a long-standing tradition that has been extended to the leader of our nation that has had a Jamboree during his term since 1937. It is in no way an endorsement of any person, party or policies. For years, people have called upon us to take a position on political issues, and we have steadfastly remained non-partisan and refused to comment on political matters. We sincerely regret that politics were inserted into the Scouting program.

While we live in a challenging time in a country divided along political lines, the focus of Scouting remains the same today as every day.

Trustworthiness, loyalty, kindness and bravery are just a few of the admirable traits Scouts aspire to develop – in fact, they make up the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

As part of our program’s duty to country, we teach youth to become active citizens, to participate in their government, respect the variety of perspectives and to stand up for individual rights.

Few will argue the importance of teaching values and responsibility to our youth — not only right from wrong, but specific positive values such as fairness, courage, honor and respect for others.

For all of the adventure we provide youth such as hiking, camping and zip-lining, those activities actually serve as proven pathways and opportunities to develop leadership skills and become people of character.

In a time when differences seem to separate our country, we hope the true spirit of Scouting will empower our next generation of leaders to bring people together to do good in the world.

Yours in Scouting,

Mike

What a weak-sauce response. There's one mild sentence in there about what happened, surrounded by a sea of yada yada yada. That's one thing you often see when people "apologize" without really meaning it: surround the "apology" with a mountain of crap. Not only that, it's one of those "we are sorry that some are offended" apologies. No shit, I bet you are. Doesn't mean you actually are sorry that Trump said all that crap.

"I'm sorry that you don't like that I punched you in the face."

None of the Bolsheviks were as inept, incoherent and rambling as a public speaker as Trump though. In that regard not even Stalin was as bad (though I gather there were other respects in which he was a mite worse than Trump).

Morons behind podiums are easily addressed by individual Scout masters at troop meetings and campouts.
The core values of scouting far outweigh all the bullshit red state assholes try to inject into it and the occasional verbal diarrhea blowhard buffoons spit out.
As for a dumbass like Trump and his "believers", They can join the assholes that make a big deal about gays or muslims or women in Scouting.
It's all fluff that is easily ignored. In the long run saner people are around to set the tone in Scouts.
