Trouble With Mall Security

I went to meet my girlfriend up at her job at the mall. I picked her up outside her work (Macys) and we went and parked at the very end of the parking lot where there were no cars. We kissed for a little bit and stuff, but we ended it short and started to talk. 7 minutes later a security car pulls up behind us and honks. I ignore the honk because we are not doing anything wrong we are sitting in the car talking (she is holding me kind of , her arm is around me and her hand is on my lap). He comes out of his car and demands that I leave. Let me add we are fully dressed!

Security Guard "Get out of here"
Me "What? What law am I breaking?"
Security Guard "What are you doing here"
Me "I am talking to my girlfriend"
Security Guard "Get out of here now"
Security Guard "Go park over there"
Security Guard "Have a good day SIR"

I decide to go park near the other cars and then we realized my girlfriend's stuff is in her car which is also parked very far away from the parking lot. I pull up next to her car and she goes inside her car to get her things (she is fixing her hair, etc)

Security comes up again.

Security Guard "I told you to get out of here. Do not lie to me. Do I have to make you get out of here"
Me "What the hell law am I breaking. People park their cars in the back of the parking lot all the time so other cars dont hit it"
Security Guard "You were going to do something. We came just in time now get out of here. People come up here to do stuff"
Me "You have no right to tell me to leave. We are not undressed. Do you see any of our clothes off"
Security Guard "Calls other security guards"
Me "You think you are a police officer or something? Did you fail your test and this is why you are a mall security guard?"
Security Guard .. attitude with me in my face and I am going off on him. I was defending my rights. He has no right to come up to my face and demand that I get out of the parking space. I tried to be nice, but he obviously wanted to act like bad security cop from the start.

They kick us out of the mall and take my license plate.

Can they #&!& do this? We work at the mall! What gives them the right to tell people where to park? I saw plenty of other cars at the end of the parking lot, so I guess when their owners come back they have 5 seconds to leave or security is going to kick them out.

Yes they can. :) If you don't leave they'll put you down for trespassing... :D Not that I would know. :p

One time, i was going around the lot at maybe 10mph hour... i don't know since my speedometer wasn't moving... but the mall security rode his bike in front of my car and told me not to speed in his parking lot.

shouldve asked for his name and the name and a way to contact his supervisor. everybody answers to somebody, unless you are the man at the top of the mountain. and i doubt a mall security guard is that man.

He said they would call the police and have me removed. My license plate was taken and I was told never to show up there again or they would get me for trespassing. I work there so we'll see about that.

I am thinking this was race related, but I probably cannot prove that. I wasn't doing anything wrong at all.

Taking down his name wouldn't of helped. The whole group of mall security was there with their Jeeps and they were telling me to leave. My girlfriend tried to talk and they told her to shut up and calm down. She was calm!

LOL... actually, the malls here...ever since 9/11... they don't want anyone staying in the car if they're not going to the mall. They don't do it anymore though... but i'm guessing they're just suspicious when a couple is just hanging out in the car... and assume that you guys are going to do something. I wouldn't worry about the license plate thing... i guess that's only a reference if you run into them again and it'll show up.

if you plan to hit him in the head with a sack of quarters, beware of little kids with wooden toy cars.

Why didn't you leave? The parking lot isn't for loitering, its for people who go shopping. If you were out of work you should have gone home to mess around or something.

You should of let them call the cops. Then when the cops came tell them that your girlfriend works there and that she is just on her break.

Actually he can. You were on private property, they can tell anyone to get the hell off if they feel like it. Period.

Your comment about him failing the police test probably didn't help your situation any.

Amen. Should've gotten his supe's contact info (And if he wouldn't hand it over, just glance at his nametag and the side of his vehicle)

Mall security told my dad and I to scram while we were performing some emergency car repairs (Fvcking battery terminals corrode at least once a year on every car we've got up here. That's probably not a good sign, but whatever).

We told him he was welcome to try to start the vehicle. Then he threatened to tow it. While he was waiting for the tow, we finished the work and drove off. Don't fvck with these people in their parking lot. They think they're god.

Any chance you could elaborate on this premise?
I don't like what allegedly happened to you, but I think that the
race issue (in general) has been beaten to death.

I was sexually harrassed by a group of mall security guards when I was 16 and believe me they were looking for work the next day.

Me "You think you are a police officer or something? Did you fail your test and this is why you are a mall security guard?"

I'm sure saying that did not help at all.

The mall security guard was a d-head from the start. He wasn't talking to me or asking me questions. He was telling me what to do in a very deep voice. I opened my mouth he called me a liar. I was talking calmly and was even telling him I respect him and I did not want to cause trouble but he kept walking away and not listening to me. After he walked away and I did not comply with his demands he came back furious again without even hearing my side of the story telling me to leave.

That police officer comment came after he told my girlfriend to shut up. I was cool until they told her to shut up then I made the remarks.

Why do I say it was race related? I am from the middle-east, my girlfriend has cancer so she wears a scarf on her head because she lost all her hair (I will not talk about her cancer). She is white however and is not from the middle east but I guess she could pass as being from that area with the scarf on her head.

By the way I was not making out with her when the security guards came up. We were talking about what we were going to do after she got off work.

I doubt it was race related. Guy was just doing his job. He could have done it nicer...but he was doing it none the less. Get over it.

Well, whether you work there or not you'd better calmly report the incident and make sure that there won't be another (e.g., towing) next time you bring your car on the property.

you know now that i think of it.

agreed, the guard was power trippin, but y'know you did a pretty shibby job communicating yourself

if you would've just said "i'm just talking to my gf, i just picked her up from work, she works here" first before mouthin off, you probably would've saved yourself a lot of trouble
