Maj Gen William Caldwell said reports that troops "executed" a family during a raid on a house in March and tried to cover it up were "absolutely false".

Mr Maliki said he would ask the US for the investigative files into the incident.

Violence against civilians was "common among many of the multinational forces", he added.

Many troops had "no respect for citizens, smashing civilian cars and killing on a suspicion or a hunch", he added.

US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said on Friday that 99.9% of US forces conducted "themselves in an exemplary manner".

Damn bush admin I think is doing a good cover up job on this one...

I am pretty sure this is a separate incident than the one where 15 Iraqi civilians were killed.

Yea, this is not the same as the incident where there probably ARE going to be charges. Two different events.

lol.. so many incidents no one can keep track of them anymore.

You all remember the Ferengi Uprising on Riouz3?

Same things happened there.
Only it was the cardassians that were making all the unsubstatiated claims!

Man those cardassians are always up to no good. But, you have to be quiet about it because we wouldn't want this administration adding them to the axis of evil.

From the article at ericlp's link:
Troops cleared of Iraq wrongdoing

A US military investigation has found there was no misconduct by US troops over Iraqi civilian deaths in the town of Ishaqi, a spokesman says.

Maj Gen William Caldwell said reports that troops "executed" a family during a raid on a house in March and tried to cover it up were "absolutely false".

Questions over the 11 deaths in Ishaqi come amid a Pentagon inquiry into a bigger alleged massacre in Haditha.

Nice troll, you know it is common practice in this country for a man to be assumed innocent before a trial...but in all the alleged incidents the media and the P and N tools assume automatic guilt.

I noticed in this article they seem to have a problem with exhuming any of these bodies to examine the evidence, hiding behind thier muslum beliefs.
One wonders what they are actually afraid of?
Your hatred of the military, the war, and bush is obvious.
Your objectivity is nonexisistant.

Trolling? The only one trooling along here is YOU.... If you don't like the news story then don't comment on it.... It's that simple...

If I think bush and cronnies are covering things up then that is my right... Sorry if I don't have faith in the bush admin like you do... Yeah, I do hate bush and this war thanks for noticing...

People are dying there every day; it's merely a matter of what the media decides it wants to tell you. This month troops shooting Iraqis seems to be the flavor.

I love the news story. It says essentially that the original story was crap.
What is trollish is you automatically assume its a coverup.
present your proof then. I'm listening.
Now if in some of the other incidents its proven that something is funny and they are tried and found guilty. Then they should be held accountable.

Men and women are doing there job overthere, and deserve more respect then that.
You assume guilt before innocence and that is no respect at all.

This story keeps changing. We've got 13 civilians killed in a raid that targeted a single 'Suspected' insurgent.

Current Article

Some of the other source headlines are that the 'Commanders' were cleared, which dismisses implication of those under them.

because you know these guys have to be guilty.
you know... guilty until proven innocent, and even if proven innocent well they still HAVE to be guilty.

I wonder how this finding squares with the video that has apparently been uncovered of the Ishaqi victims (and which is also mentioned in the BBC story). Personally I hope the GIs did nothing wrong, and I'm happy to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it will be embarrassing if this video shows the Pentagon's investigation as a whitewash. We shall see . . .

why are the anti's always so eager to jump on and gloat about bad news or news that actually hurts our country?! that always amazes me... and disgusts me too.

I would never advocate ignoring such news, but why do the anti's seem so happy about it? Don't they recognize the damage that such news does to the country as a whole, or are they too blinded by their anti-Bushism to realize that?

I just don't get it...

Happy? Where are you seeing this? I need you to point it out to me, because I've read every post in this thread and I don't see where you are getting 'happy'.

so you are more worried what the "news" might do to the country than worried about the events that happen

really a twisted way of thinking

no. im AM worried about the news itself. i dont know how to explain it, but there really is a feeling I get sometimes that some people get "excited" about bad news that hurts our country. It's as though some media outlets thrive on such news and promote it a little overzealously.

The news should be reported. however, i'm not all that sure that it should be the lead story for weeks at a time... not when making it such is so damaging to the country. At some point the media needs to put the safety and reputation of the nation ahead of their need to grab viewer attention.

i know that i'm not alone in this feeling... i hear about it all the time from friends and colleagues. it's just something that is very difficult to explain.

ultimately, yes, i AM more worried about the potential damage to the country as a whole...

bah, nevermind...

Well of course they are cleared... The (if you want to call it an) investigation was done by the US.

To put things in perspective, that is like Jefferey Dahmer doing a report on Cannibalism.

thats off topic which I see OP still has not addresed.
But I think club Gitmo is another example of The Media making a hayday out of nothing.
Abu Grab on the other hand appeared to have merit and was dealt with.

You will have to be more specific about " "the kidnappings"

a hayday out of nothing?
people imprisoned for years without due cause, no one told about who they are, leading prisoners to hunger strikes and suicide, if anything gitmo is worse because of the psychological trauma caused

the part you have wrong is the "without cause" part. most, if not all, of the innocent or semi-innocent prisoners have been returned to their home nations, or other nations where they were wanted by authorities. the ones remaining in Gitmo, or arriving there, are bonafied war criminals and terrorists. should we be giving them their freedom? im sure if you ahd it your way, we'd be giving them free houses, free cars, cash, and US citizenship! perhaps give them an award for killing innocents and coalition soldiers?! ya....

get a clue.

Furious Iraq demands apology as US troops are cleared of massacre

I still think the US was in the wrong. I'm not gonna change my views also... Just from what I read from "other" sources... Sorry, I don't get my news from faux or abc/nbc like Daniel49 does. Read more into this and you know they are guilty as hell.
