Looks horribly stupid and unoriginal. I'd even go as far as saying that the original Tron had better special effects. The special effects of decades past were at least original and creative, whereas the computer effects of today look cliched and amateurish. They keep using the same repetitive, unrealistic effects such as the "camera shake" effect that seems to be in every movie and commercial nowadays. It's like when you give a 12 year old Photoshop and all their pictures have lens flares all over the place.

not sure what you're smokin', but this legacy trailer looks great. gf felt the same.

You don't notice the overused effects? I can see it plain as day.

overused in what sense? the effects seem new, polished, and futuristic.

and what camera shake? the trailer seemed stable unlike the jason bourne crap that ruined the last two movies and gave many headaches.

Homer: Uh... it's like... did anyone see the movie 'Tron'?
Hibbert: No.
Lisa: No.
Marge: No.
Wiggum: No.
Bart: No.
Patty: No.
Wiggum: No.
Ned: No.
Selma: No.
Frink: No.
Lovejoy: No.
Wiggum: Yes. I mean... um, I mean, no. No, heh.

I'm referring to the camera shake effect. They usually use it when a vehicle passes or something "exciting" is supposed to happen.

Also, their faces look completely fake in those suits. Take a look at the guy's face in the opening scene, it doesn't even look realistic. Also, take a look at the guy's face at the end. They put his head way too high in the helmet, which makes it look like he has a very long neck.

In addition, look at the scene where he's hanging from the cliff. The physics look completely off. His body doesn't move like a human body hanging from a cliff would. You can tell they did that completely by computer and didn't use an actor (to at least perform the stunt to model the movement). This often happens when people without an eye for detail make computer effects... they make mistakes such as messing up the center of gravity on an object in flight, the movement will be messed up making the person look like their limbs are made out of rubber (instead of having rigid bones in them which limits movement only at the joints).

It's not as bad as a lot of the crap I see, but the effects could use some work to make it look more realistic.

I have mixed feelings on this. Wasnt one of the cool things with the bikes that they had to stay on the grid?
Though they did nail the music PERFECTLY.

Yet you accepted the characteristic growl of the tie-fighter without question?

Remember back when the original TRON was released? Physics based mathematical calculations in video games were limited to just 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees. 😉

so is this a movie or just an imax thing? Will Boxleitner, Bridges, and David Warner be in it?
