triple monitors===> now quad monitor

boo hoo nobody likes my setup. I bet if i posted that the new nvidia drivers gave me a 1 fps improvement in Crysis people would be more excited than this. oh well

Portrait looks neat as the toolbars and stuff that you don't always need to see can be below the bottom of the center monitor. I don't know what to do about my setup. 1 24" isn't enough and 2 at an angle don't look good (I have a 2nd I could add). But it's difficult to match side monitors for a 24". A perfect fit would be 21.3" 1600x1200 such as a samsung 213t but those are hard to find at a good price.

I like how the portrait setting looks, but from a practical standpoint I prefer when my mouse can't get "stuck" on a screen because the vertical resolution is different.

I hardly notice the getting stuck. What I do like is that I can get the Fourms in one big long list. Hey, at the very least it's a novelty and got some wow factor

back from the dead... I just got my hands on another 2005fpw...... FOR FREE!!! It was my dads. the screen was flickering like crazy almost as if auto adjust was stuck on. I took it apart and found some solder joints on the power circuitry were in questionable conditon so I redid then and viola!!

I told my dad that it was an easy fix but he didn't want it back since he got a better 23" 1080 panel. I chuckled assuming it is a cheap tn POS. AH well, what to do with this sucker. I could reposition it as the middle monitor but then what to do with the 24? I really have no tangible use for it but why the heck not use it

** edit I have used my current setup with softTH. It was very nice but I'm assuming having 3 equal panels would be the shit

I'm just surprised that you still have a gf after she saw that. Three monitors is ridiculously nerdy.

Looks good OP. Wish I had the desk real estate for more than one monitor. What do you use each for anyway?

Oh, and try gaming at 2560x1600 and then see if you still think a 30" is unneeded. 😉

That's a really impressive setup 😀

But i still far prefer 2560x1600.
You'd understand if you had a 30" 😉

24/23"ers @ 1920x1200/1080 seem pretty tiny when you have 1600p.

I use my 30" + a 20" in portrait for 3760x1600 as my main desktop.

I have another 20" i could use with the main system if i really wanted, but i don't need to really, so i just use it with my secondary PC.

My desk

it's an omnimount cl-s platinum, scored it off ebay 2 years ago for 30 bucks from a circuit city liquidator seller. I actually bought a few of them. excellent mount.

I would cry if i was forced to game at 2560x1600, 60 fps is choppy as hell compared to 120. I got a samsung 2233rz and its seriously like night and day. I know you guys are gonna flame me but i cant wait till some 200+ fps lcds come out because i can still slightly see the individual frames when turning fast in fps

Holy crapola. Now I hate my 19" 1280x1024 even more.

thanks.. It really is breathtaking to sit infront of this setup. I kinda feel like I'm at the imax =).... I've been playing Dead Space with softTh @ 5040x1050. The GTX 280 can handle it with no problems what so ever at 60 fps typically. N7, I'd reckon you'd give it the nod over you 1600p screen 😉. The best part is that I can easily switch between running on the 3way setup to the 24, best of both worlds. Imagine a 30 hanging in place of the 24 :Q.

5040x1050 is too wide & way too short for my uses, but i'm glad you've got it working well for games! :Q
Gotta be pretty amazing seeing games across all three 😀
I do appreciate you mentioning softTh though...was not familiar with it previously

I have a very strong dislike for the trend of 16:10 & now 16:9 or worse, as all it accomplishes is less vertical viewing area.

When i got my first 1600x1200 LCD, i knew [in the future] i could not go lower than 1200 pixels high, & i wanted more.
At one point i had 1600x1200 + a portrait 1200x1600 + 1280x1024.

When i got my 2560x1600, my dreams came true.

I love lots of vertical viewing area.
As i've used 1600p for years now, there's no way i could go lower.
It's just too nice 🙂

I often dual box WoW or other games on a 24" and 22" and think to myself it'd be really nice to have another monitor to be watching tv on while I do that. nice setup

it's really not high up, the pic is misleading. Actually when I lean back in my chair it is more comfortable now than ever since it is in the optimal angle and height. pictures cannot do this setup justice, only your bum planted in the seat with mouse and keyboard in hand.

:music: I also want you guys to know that I didn't go out and blow all kinds of money for this either, nor would I because it clearly isn't for everyone but it sure is nice and I'm getting used to the versatility. I can switch from gaming 3way on the 20's to just the 24 in as easy as changing the primary screen to the 24 or the middle 20 in the windows display properties or nv control panel. After that as long as you have the softTH.cfg file setup properly it's smooth sailing. Seriously, 3 mouse clicks can dictate 5040x1050 or 1920x1200. You would be surprised at how many games the GTX 280 can handle too at that kind of res!!

SO... I originally had just one 2005fpw that i sold:brokenheart: to my roomy when i got my 2407 2.5 years ago.

Back in january or so i got the itch for a dual setup so i could run temp programs and do other stuff on my computer when i had a game going. Found a guy selling a 2005fpw for a good price 😎so I picked it up.

A couple months later my roomy that i had sold my 2005fpw to, wanted a new video card and a 1080p screen so i traded my "spare" hd4870 for the 20 incher:gift:. That put me to the 3 way setup, which i never really liked too much cause it wasn't practical😱.

I only wanted 3-way for softTH and having mismatched monitor sizes made it a little trippy although you could configure to be bearable.

***** FYI if you don'y know what softTH is look it up, Awesome,Awesome program*****

Fast forward to a few days ago and my dad telling me that he was gonna throw away his 2005fpw cause the screen was flickering(which it was severly to the point where you couldn't even make out what was on the screen). I figured :light: hell, I could at least use it for parts for my other 2. Needlees to say, when i fixed it with a little soldering action I was thrilled, and haven't stopped grinning ever since 😀
