I take 8K 360 stereoscopic video (6K is about the bare minimum you need to make VR worth it) on our trips so we can relieve them once in a while. No posing - just set it up here and there and let it roll. It's all about just being back in the scene. It brings back memories of other things that happened around that experience in much more detail. And so my son can eventually go back a time he can't remember, even if only from the point-of-view of the camera itself, it's still a whole different experience than watching something on your phone or other screen.

That's actually really cool. I find it's great to record good times whether it's a vacation or even just being together with family, as it creates good memories to go back to later.

I find back in the 90's and even before we used to record way more video of family stuff. My grandpa had a VHS camcorder and used it a lot. Every Christmas would be recorded for example, and other family events or just misc stuff. I find now that we have way better video recording tech like our phones we oddly tend to take less video or pictures. Then again having family events is practically illegal now lol so people don't want to record or post it anywhere. I took a family picture on Boxing Day last year when I had everyone over at my house and it was like "ok nobody post that anywhere". Crazy times we live in lol.

We did the whole Super 8MM thing. Miles and miles and miles of the crap. Who knows how much money in cameras, film, processing and editors. Watched the stuff once or twice, then never again. Stuff rotted in the reel cans decades later.

I hit about 45 or 46 states over the years, remember very little, have no desire to repeat any of it.

That was when you could find a dozen or more little Mom & Pop roadside motels in almost every little town for $20/night or less. Sometimes $15 and you got coffee makers in the rooms and juice and pastries in the morning in the office.

$1,000 or so would get you 10-15 days of room, food, gas, admissions to tourist traps and souvenirs.

No pictures here. No massive expense spent for little to no reason or for 'memories' (memories suck anyways).

I will travel no more forever.


In the past 15 years, I haven't been more than 200 miles from this spot (most often less than 75 miles) and I have no plans to ever be again.
