What did you put down for income?

Don't think it has anything to do w/ your income. I think it has more to do w/ your credit history/score. I don't make 6 figure income, not even low 5 figure. I worked my way up from a $300 limit CitiBank VISA when I started college to a Diamond Preferred MC. Called in a couple months back to have them "down grade" it to a Dividend Platinum Select.

I make in the k range. (just started working out of college).

I've had a credit card since i was 18 and built that credit to 5500. Never had a late payment on credit cards, bills, or student loans. I don't understand why i'd get rejected.

I need to do the same; no idea why they "upgraded" me to the crappy Diamond card.

Which reason? Using a cell number? Do they really use just that as the basis of the rejection? Is there anyway to call and change the number?

I have better credit/income than my wife and I got the 30-day message while she got instant-approved when she applied online right after me. I eventually got it.

5% cash back on gas is nice.

We buy about $50/mo on gas which is roughly $2.50/mo which adds up over time.

I live in Los Angeles and deal with traffic daily. We also have the most expensive gas in the country because it's "refined." Try $200 a month. :p

Sad thing is he's not exaggerating the amount. I gas up 3 times every 2 weeks. Each visit will cost me about $30. So that's about $180 a month.. and my commuter car is a 4 banger too.

probably just can't confirm the info you put in. Get a credit report to see if your address, and job info are correct. If the companies can't match your records, you can't get instant approval.

i put in my cell number, got approved back in janurary..instant online approval too..i think my cell number is on my credit report from other credit cards..no real income (i put my college tuition down as income, hehe) still in college..and no i dont have the college student version

btw, does anybody know if Sam's Club Gas correctly is counted as gas? One thing I don't like about this card is it doesnt break down on the bill which purchases you are getting the 5% bonus on (my Chase Perfectcard used to put the gas into a special section)

also, no need to pay for a credit report, if they turn you down, you can get one for free..but they will probably approve you, even if they only give you a low limit

I got the same deal from them. They said they would be contacting me within 30 days. I got my card in the mail less than a week later. Go figure.

Good to know that a bunch of you still got the cards after not getting the instant confirmation. Do they ever call your work? I ask because i've been there less than a year and the information hasn't made it to my credit report. Will calling them to see if I can help the process do me any good?

Yes, they might need clarification on your rent, employment or other personal information.

CALL AND ASK THEM WHAT THE DECISION IS!

I would wait until 24 BUSINESS HOURS after you have applied then call them at 1-800-950-5114.

RossMAN, this number seems to be only for people who have an account. Is there another number that can be found or is there a way to bypass having to enter the 16 digit code?

Dial that number and enter 0# repeatedly until they transfer you to a live CSR.

For any of you who actually care, somebody from CitiBank called me this morning asking me to confirm my address, social and the name of my company. Does this increase or decrease my chances?
