I need to do the same; no idea why they "upgraded" me to the crappy Diamond card.Originally posted by: Baked

Don't think it has anything to do w/ your income. I think it has more to do w/ your credit history/score. I don't make 6 figure income, not even low 5 figure. I worked my way up from a $300 limit CitiBank VISA when I started college to a Diamond Preferred MC. Called in a couple months back to have them "down grade" it to a Dividend Platinum Select.

5% cash back on gas is nice.
We buy about $50/mo on gas which is roughly $2.50/mo which adds up over time.

I live in Los Angeles and deal with traffic daily. We also have the most expensive gas in the country because it's "refined." Try $200 a month.![]()

Good to know that a bunch of you still got the cards after not getting the instant confirmation. Do they ever call your work? I ask because i've been there less than a year and the information hasn't made it to my credit report. Will calling them to see if I can help the process do me any good?

Yes, they might need clarification on your rent, employment or other personal information.
CALL AND ASK THEM WHAT THE DECISION IS!

Usually it means you're declined but sometimes you can still get approved.
I would wait until 24 BUSINESS HOURS after you have applied then call them at 1-800-950-5114.

RossMAN, this number seems to be only for people who have an account. Is there another number that can be found or is there a way to bypass having to enter the 16 digit code?

For any of you who actually care, somebody from CitiBank called me this morning asking me to confirm my address, social and the name of my company. Does this increase or decrease my chances?
