Yep. And if you do what the cop says and attempt to leave, you'll get cuffed, arrested, and tased. Fun eh?

Here are my take: (from my own experience)

Cops (around here) can be in uniform/fully armed and work as security in restaurants/bars/clubs/supermarkets while off duty. They are everywhere as security now especially the holidays are coming up (to prevent robberies).

You can be arrest (distubing the peace) if you make loud noise/disrupting behavior and didn't stop when the cops ask you to.

The only thing I didn't like about the OP was "the cop touch the girl while she tried to leave".....that was a bit iffy...need more information.

She was walking away from the cop.. The cop originally yelled at her to stop cursing..

WTF.. It's a free country. Fucking curse if you want to. Cops don't get to stop you. There's no law that says you have to be nice around kids.

Now.. I don't think that cursing around kids is a good idea.. And, I think maybe the cop had good intentions. But, it is her goddamn fucking right to curse all goddamn day if she pleases.

She did not need to be tased. I'm sick of cops that believe they are the law.

And.. 'disorderly conduct' WTF is that? It's your right to be disorderly just as long as you are not infringing on other peoples' rights.

There's no 'right to not hear curse words.' Otherwise, I want my 'right to not hear Spanish.'
I don't think hearing a different language is comparable to hearing cussing.

From Georgia's Disorderly Conduct law:
(2) Without provocation, uses obscene and vulgar or
1-30 profane language in the presence of or by telephone to a
1-31 person under the age of 14 years which threatens an
1-32 immediate breach of the peace;
Seems to me what she was doing could be considered a misdemeanor.

The cop just suggested she stop cursing around kids. She didn't get arrested for cursing, she got arrested for attacking the police.

14 year old in cuffs... gets tasered?

There's no reason to believe anything other than the officer was using it as a punishment, not to control the 14 year old. Last time I checked, it was up to the judicial branch to hand out punishments, not the police. The girl deserved it. Good. However, the officer should probably be reprimanded.

Would you clarify how you arrived at that conclusion? Do you find the officer's report to be implausible? The article quotes the police spokesperson:
"The officer stated she was extremely combative and he was unable to get her into the patrol car," Spellman said. "After several attempts to urge the girl to comply verbally, the officer tased her."

* I bumped this thread due in part to DrPizza's related post regarding officers using Tasers as punishment.
