Fun so far I like it. What is the key for grenades? Also I bought the pathfinders boost upgrade for cash since it was my daily deal. Once equipped that just gives me better flight right? Nothing I need to activate?

'F' for grenades. If you're a Pathfinder then the impact nitrons are best reserved for boosting yourself higher and faster.

By "boost upgrade" do you mean the Thrust Pack? If so, then you wait until you have some energy and hit 'C' and you'll get a little kick in the pants.

Another good use for the Nitrons are to throw them at flag carriers as it makes them drop them.

Been playing all weekend, forgot how much I liked this game.

Ah thanks, i thought it made my flight pack better.

Level 5 now pretty fun, i bought 10 bucks of gold to be a VIP and a 10 day boost for exp.

I like the pathfinder a lot so far, is there a OP class atm or weapon?

I am having pretty good luck with the splash damage from the lightfusor so far.

Then they introduced the Rockwind......

I like the new jugg stuff though. I use it all. My aim with the fusion mortar is pretty good so doing more damage and losing some blast radius is fine, same with the spin fuser. The new grenade I use over the other though because I always find the radius much more important with them. I never used the X1 because I feel like auto's ruin the game, so no lose there.

The new rifle for the Soldier is pretty cool, and the Thumper DX packs a nicely improved punch into a smaller area, nice for bothering heavies. I don't know that we needed another auto in the game, though. I tried the chain cannon on the Doombringer and it didn't seem like much to me, but only played one match.

I just have not been having fun with game since patch. Seems everyone just plays 2 classes now. Jugg or anti-jug smg only.

When game came out also seemed like games played out long, now its always a sweep 0-5 or nothing at all.

I think they added to much to fast.

You know the matches have seemed a lot more one-sided. It might be just a perception. I've still had quite a few close ones. In terms of the classes I still see a lot of techs, raiders, and infs. There is definitely a pattern around heavies and the classes that bother them, though. I find it fun to be a heavy-hunter on my soldier, but lately they all seem to have mastered the "nuke and retreat" method and I often end up bouncing nades off them clear back to their base.

I thought the last patch was supposed to tone down autos. All I saw everybody using tonight was.... autos. They hit harder and are even more accurate than before. Game = ruined.

They did, then added new variants of them that in most cases increased their damage so they are right back where we started....sigh

All they succeeded in doing was bringing the Raider down to a more similarly overpowered level as the other auto classes.

The biggest issue with automatics in my opinion, is their skill ceiling has next to no limit. Meaning, there is no strict game mechanic limiting their effectiveness, simply the players accuracy. With explosive weapons, the game mechanics themselves limit their reliable usefulness to brief ground opportunities within a very limited range. Even if the player is an expert with a spinfusor, beating a skilled automatic user almost requires you to midair them (and that's if you have enough health left to even attempt one by the time your within range), and if it's a heavy class with a chaingun or X1LMG, you will likely have to midair them multiple times, which you aren't going to have time to even attempt.

This latest patch just makes the game more frustrating, as it shows that likely nothing will ever be done to fix the balance issues.

Have to agree with that. If you have someone on you who is decent with the NJ series or the X1 you rarely have time to pin them on the ground before you're dead. I saw they nerfed the reload time on these in the last patch, so wonder if that has something to do with it.

Had my first obvious experience with aimbotters last night. There was one particular technician that was mowing through people with the smg. Every time I came across him (was playing a jugg), he'd be bouncing all around me and every single shot of his landed on me. At one point in the match I checked - he was 42 kills 18 assists. There were a couple others as well - all of them playing technicians - all with high 20's kills assists. There was also one chaingunner with ridiculously good aim as well.

They need to go back to Tribes 1 and have only ONE auto in the game, and for short range "spray and pray" only at that.

The starter pack is a good deal for new people. I'd recommend it. Also I'd use the gold for boost and not for buying items unless you know you can't get enough use out of the boost.

Hi-Rez can bite my shiny metal ass. This is a joke of a Tribes game, and the payment model is exploitative of free and paying players alike.:|

Friend of mine actually loves this model. He's not really a paying user (certainly not a 'whale') but he said basically the opposite you said.

The model to him works for people who want to drop a little bit of cash and it isn't pay 2 win.

That's his view.

I've come to like the F2P games, a couple bucks goes a long way and I haven't seen a FTP game not work on my laptop. I'm too lazy to fire up my desktop beast. I work so much off my laptop, so I use a F2P game for 30 min to an hour as a break.

Other F2P games I enjoy:
Battlefield P4F (even though I own every BF..this is quick and easy)
Dungeons and Dragons Online
and now Tribes Ascend 🙂

Is that going to be different then the 50% exp boost for Steam starter pack buyers? So far, that's the only thing that hasn't shown up on my account so I sent Hi-Rez a support ticket about it. BTW I sent you a steam friend request 😉

The 50% exp boost is VIP, everyone gets that when they make a cash purchase in the game and is permanent. The boost, doubles your exp you get.

So basically it breaks down like this for a game with exp, vip, and boost.

EXP for game
VIP 50% more EXP from the game
Boost Double the Exp+VIP you get

After recent update that made upgrades available without spending exp, it became MUCH better. You can still spend 15k exp to master stuff, but you are not required to. Just play and it levels up. Now you can concentrate on your desirable items and save exp.

Ooo, this sounds like a change that'll make me give it another shot.

Hit my goal for this weekend with the double exp, hit 1 million exp 😀
Between VIP, double exp, and the booster I bought with sold gold I had I was getting very large amounts per game, it was quite glorious
