Yea, there's always at least 50 some odd servers running. And Tribes 2 is MUCH better since it was released. You should give it a second change if you haven't played since it was released. I did the same thing and then just a month ago gave it a go and was pretty pleased. Almost forgot how much fun this game is... 😀 Gonna play it right now, in fact 😉

I just reinstalled this game after 8 months or so of giving up on it. I heard Sierra has given the go-ahead for Tribes 3 and it got me thinking about trying 2 again. Anyway, it plays fine but trying to play recordings gives me unhandled exceptions.

That is because you can not play old recordings on the new patch.

Well, it's already installed! Suprised the hell outta me. Anyways, apparently I have to download a 91MB patch. They sure as hell changed a lot of stuff since I last loaded the program.

That is the re-release patch that adds TR2 (which is an awesome TEAM game) and adds new maps.

Always good to see players come aboard with a clue. I swear some newbies are scary they're so bad. I mean I was a newb back in the day too, but man I at least knew GREEN = Teammate, RED = Enemy, and Flag Cap = Good... lol

Its pretty different you cannot ski as fast in T2.

Is it just me, or do the players on arena servers 0wn everybody. The one and only time I hopped on one, I got kicked after 3 rounds for sucking so badly.

About bringing your friend on to kick all your "no0b's asses" assume you were talking about yourself.

Anyway, I had this problem too, I downloaded the new drivers for my card and lowered the res one notch and it worked fine after that.

Jeez, I didn't realize that this many people still played T2. We are gonna rock some ass. I think we have a team of about 9 (not including myself) so we can do some technical attacks. Hehehe, this is gonna rock. Anyway, I tried to start setting things up last night but the Browser has been down the for the past few weeks and you can't manage any profile or tribe settings. 🙁 Soooo, pending them fixing the browser (which officially has no ETA), I'll make the tribe. Also, we need a homepage for out of game communication (yahoo groups ::ugh:: ) or although not necessary, but we could use a server of our own. If anyone want to share their crazy resources, that'd be awesome. (Cause I don't think anyone would want to play a game on my crappy 256k upload connection)

Oh yea...and if you don't have a headset (w/ mic) you might want to get one. It's really hard to get the word accross with "VSRG" 😉

Does anyone have expertise and space to put up a simple website for us to coordinate our efforts? We need to figure out who's going to play what role, specific strategies for popular maps, etc. I was messing around on Katabatic last night and had a few ideas that could potentially be extremely annoying to the opposing team if we coordinated our efforts. A simple forums-type site with general chat, general strategies, when/where to meet up online, list of contacts, and strategies specific to certain maps would be great.

And yeah, everyone pony up for a cheap mic if you don't already have one since voice comm will be very important if we're actually going to work together.

jagouar is my name in the game... funny because I just started playing it again and was looking for a clan. One hint get on a ladder now once we have enough people so we dont have to waste too much time challenging up.

Not really. Tribes is capture the flag (has other modes too, but CTF is the most fun) with driveable multi-person vehicles, three different classes, multiple options for your armor/weapons "loadout", many options for base defense, etc. It's really a very well-rounded game that was sunk by a too-early (read: buggier than the Congo) release. It also has a fairly steep learning curve since you have a rocket pack on your back that has a limited burn time.....if you get the hang of it, you can really cruise around a map, but it can be super-frustrating if you screw up and get stuck in a ravine or something and get blasted to bits while waiting for the thing to recharge.

The game looks awesome, but I'm a bit concerned that I won't have a clue when it comes to playing it. I'm pretty good at TFC (usually one of the top 2-3 players on each server I play on) but suck pretty royally at CS and games like Q3 or UT2K3. How's the learning curve? Need anything special, besides a headset, to play/play well? I'm an arrowkey player, btw - never could get the hang of asd stuff.
