The game looks awesome, but I'm a bit concerned that I won't have a clue when it comes to playing it. I'm pretty good at TFC (usually one of the top 2-3 players on each server I play on) but suck pretty royally at CS and games like Q3 or UT2K3. How's the learning curve? Need anything special, besides a headset, to play/play well? I'm an arrowkey player, btw - never could get the hang of asd stuff.Originally posted by: Fausto1

I never did try Tribes 2. Is it similar to TFC? I'm hooked on that right now.

Not really. Tribes is capture the flag (has other modes too, but CTF is the most fun) with driveable multi-person vehicles, three different classes, multiple options for your armor/weapons "loadout", many options for base defense, etc. It's really a very well-rounded game that was sunk by a too-early (read: buggier than the Congo) release. It also has a fairly steep learning curve since you have a rocket pack on your back that has a limited burn time.....if you get the hang of it, you can really cruise around a map, but it can be super-frustrating if you screw up and get stuck in a ravine or something and get blasted to bits while waiting for the thing to recharge.

The hardest thing for new people to the tribes world to learn is usign the jat pack.... adds a 3rd dimension to the game. The jetpack is your life in the game as is knowing how to ski well. Id say if you really are a fast learner you could learn the basics in about 2 hrs.... everything bayond that is polishing the shills. I really need to re-polish the skills some more, been about 6 months since I've played competatively. But let me say this, the first match you play is unreal, no other game even comes close to the intensity.
