Very outdated engine, Not new technology. Launch a Crysis engine game and see if you get 60fps and never drop from 60fps ,, then were talking,, good luck,,

BEN90 when i am not playing trainz i change the setting on the card all the time back to the lower settings ,why to save the life of the cards

I wouldn't worry about that, the card will last fine regardless. When you aren't playing a game it downclocks to idle speeds and runs pretty cool.

I'd check in the Catalyst Control Center's 3d options and set everything to max quality. Use the in-game anti-aliasing and anisotropic filter options if it has them. If it doesn't then use Catalyst to force it to 8x Anti-aliasing and 16X anisotropic filtering and see how it runs.

Also you might want to check out using multiple monitors with Eyefinity, Trainz is suppose to handle the extra screens well.

CryEngine is a very poorly optimized engine, it's a pretty bad example for testing (and the game was very cheesy.)

rofl @ this thread!!! Now we have tweakboy in here too. This place is gonna put comedy central in the poor house if it keeps up.

No need to rain on a relatively new member's parade. The OP has the top of the line system by any measure and I can definitely feel the excitement. Teh game looks fantastic especially the photo-realistic character design at the bottom-left corner of screen.

You make Nemesis1 look eloquently spoken.

Enjoy your 5970, though I think you have more card than that game likely needs. It should future proof you for a while though.

Ahh, this brings back good memories from all the Railroad Tycoons and train simulators I used to play. Sigh.

If anyone does buy Auran's Trainz 2010 do not install update SP2 it stuff's the game completly,SP2 need work done to it .

Everyone always says this, yet I haven't seen any hard facts to back it up. Im not trying to start a war with you, I just think the only reason people think its unoptimized is because there is a lot more detail that normally gets left out of other games.

I know, right, this guy has a sick rig and he's giving everyone a big F-U and playing a train simulator. He owned everyone in here already and they don't even realize it.

He *could* play that little Crysis game at 60 fps like others only dream of. But does he care? nah.

I hope he does look into the triple monitor thing though it might be cool for that game 🙂

I do play Crysis and Call Of Duty 2 as well but my main pass time is trainz sim 2010 and i do overclock it as much as i can without a real good cooling fan
