are you at the surgery?

no, im at home.

doctor just called.
said that it was good we brought him in. he had some sort of fibrous material with a rubber band wrapped around it that was clogging his intestines. so it was slightly inflamed.
i guess he is doing ok. im going to pick him up in the morning and move him to my regular vet for a day of observation. there is still some things in his large intestine, but they wont touch it if its in there.

thank you all for helping me stay sane while passing the time to hear back on him.

oh... that happened to one of VeggieFrogs cats when it was a baby. 5 weeks old... we did not know anything was wrong until the second day we had her... she foamed at the mouth, her eyes rolled back and her tongue flopped out.

who ever dropped her in a cardboard box... in the cold rain... well she was young and had been suckling on a blanket somewhere and the fibers stuck to her intestines and attached themselves, closing her off. she needed surgery too..

but she is right as rain now.

Good luck.

My sister had a dog that ate a D battery. She couldn't afford the surgery so she had to put him down. :(

sadness and anxiety fill me.
i must wait until the hour ends for information on my kittens progress.

apparently, he somehow ingested some rubber bands and a paperclip.
the rubber bands came out but he stopped eating and stopped being able to stand up so we took him in for emergency work where they found the paperclip in xray.
WTF?????

stupid cat.

Hey buddy, don't be so quick to judge. I'm sure a warning label or two saved your life at some point in time. ;)
my cat never did anything like that. She used to eat mice though and get a tapeworm.

I have a cat that likes to eat or at least chew on rubberbands.

We try to keep them off the floor and out of sight.

So far, no problems due to them. <knock on wood>

My gigantor Siameese Lester just had surgery a few months ago...his kidneys wern't working properly because he was so fat (25+ pounds). He's since lost weight, but he's still a fatass. A sleek fatass at that.

GL with your cat. My dog ate some deer corn, and it stoppered him up real bad. once they cleaned him out, he was okay though.

pffft...a friends cat ate 20 some inches of dental floss. Over $800 later they got it all out. I'd have opted for the $30 alternative...

Damn that sucks.

My fiance's brother's cat stayed with us for a few months while he was getting a new place, and she's stupid and eats everything like that as well. She'd eat long pieces of hair, take a dump and then jump out of the litter box with a turd on a string dragging behind her. God damn.

Fiance's brother said she ate a shoe lace one time. He heard her meowing at the litter box, she had the sh|tty shoelace sticking out of her butt and apparently had gotten backed up. He said he pulled it out of her slowly. Blech!

jesus that cat is pretty dumb,
you better start saving money, i get the feeling that he's gonna cost you a lot in the long run...

the amount of $ need is directly proportional to the amout of effort needed to avert survival of the fittest...

well, so far so good. he is back at the vet being hydrated.
been told i should be able to pick him up at around 3 or 4 this afternoon.
he does, however, have a cone around his neck.

Great news!

Consider the cone for your entertainment. :p

Good to hear and that's a cute kitten.

Our kitten Jessica had to have surgery not too long ago. She got outside and must've got into a fight or something, cause she had two nice gashes in her back. They operated and she had the cone around her neck for a few weeks. It was kinda funny, cause she would try to take it off. Kinda sad too though, cause she wasn't able to sleep comfortably for that entire time.

Glad to hear that Monster will be ok.

On a side note:

Last time I was at the vet there was a St. Bernard (sp?) that had just had surgery. They put a cone on it's neck.

OMG it looked like one of those "Full Size" satellite dishes.

Huge cone for a huge dog.

Everyone there was wishing they'd brought their camera.
