thats what ppl said about the Titan too.

Nissan has it beat at the following:
Nissan realized that in order for people to consider you as a work truck, both doors must be suicide doors. both doors opening the same way does NOT relate well with the working crowd who have to pull out topo's and large schematics to show the supervisor and just open them up in the truck. theres not enough room to do that.
The front holes in the bed are for??? i know that current trucks have them in the side, but typically higher, why so many and why in the front of the bed?
nice towing capacity.
even though there are controls on the wheel for the radio here why is it SO far away, i hate that design, for a worker who wants to turn down the radio you almost have to use the passenger, its so far away.
thats what i can pick out currently.
WTF, why does toyota insist on using the same cheapo CC swithch on all models? There is clearly room for CC on that steering wheel, why don't they build it in there?
Dude, the CC stalk works! I had it on my '95 Camry and the same one is on my dad's Highlander. Why change a good thing? Up to set/accelerate. Down to decelerate/resume IIRC. Press the button to arm. Simple and effective.
:cough: GM's one broken chicken wing wonder :cough:
it does everything, simple and effective, yet ppl hate it now...
huh? pics?

So a small, niche market that covers a small % will save GM now? Please.Originally posted by: tfinch2

Nissan makes some of the best trucks in the market no doubt. Their sliding bed rail system > Toyota's bed.Originally posted by: MIKEMIKE

Yup, think of Nissan as the new rookie of the year. Their 2nd gen trucks (starting last year) are trumping the competition, especially in the compact truck market.Originally posted by: Citrix

Nissan has never had a strong large truck sales history. now when Nissan/Datson made the small truck they sold a bunch of them. Toyota is a bit different, their yearly Tundra sales have been climbing, and in my honest opinion the only reason Toyota truck sales have not been a serious threat to the big 3 is because Toyota never made a truck that competeted directly against them. Im talking about Engine size/HP, Towing weight and over all size.
This new truck from toyota has the same size engine and towing as my GMC K1500 does.

Can't comment on the Titan chassis, but I was referring to the 2nd gen of the Frontier/Titan trucks (not overall). Titan is trumping its competition since its revamp in 04 (took consumers most wanted on Edmunds in 04 and 05), as is Frontier (beat Tacoma in Tough Truck Shootout, took 2nd to Taco in overall midsize). It's safe to say that yes, Nissan and Toyota are trumping the competition with better trucks.Originally posted by: ElFenix

second gen? they're still on the first gen titan chasis and they've had a small truck for decades now.

Kinda funny that you mention overall sales, and how many of these are sold to uneducated consumers in other countries (w/out a choice, or through government discounts)? Why is GM and Ford Stock tanking? If YOU personally had a choice of buying any of the above trucks, which would you choose and why? You can recite numbers all you want, the fact is that the Titan is a superior buy for its class, edmunds doesn't just make this stuff up.Originally posted by: MIKEMIKE

and all i have to say (as if i was in a basketball game)
SCOREBOARD
Silverado-C/K Pickup 705,980 3.7
Sierra 229,488 7.4
Ford F150 901,463
Nissan Titan : ?? cant find it, but im guessing 100,000 units. if that many.
If they can trump the competition in the smaller truck market, I see no reason why they couldn't make a superior product if they decided to invade the 3/4 and 1 ton market.Originally posted by: CFster
Let me know when Nissan/Toyota come up with a 3/4 or 1 ton.

So a "superior" buy is based in your opinion solely on the opinion of Edmunds.com? I didn't see the Titan winning MT TOTY in 2004, did you? That must make the F150 a "superior buy".
From sitting in my friends Titan, the interior is cheap, and I just don't "feel" the truck overall. The one thing I liked about it was that 5.6 is a beast. Other than that from personal preference to overall aesthetics I prefer my other friend's F150 or even the Ram.
So you're saying that Edmund's is a bad site for car reviews? I'm don't see what you're getting at. My opinion is only strengthened by Edumunds after I've sat and drove the Ford, Nissan, and Dodge's and the Nissan by far has the best "punch" which is what I look for in a truck. If you're going to cry about the cupholders, then you really shouldn't be driving a truck.Originally posted by: RagingBITCH

I can see your viewpoint, you've always gone with GMC and are loyal. Or maybe it's a cultural thing, all your friends will only guy domestic, so you do too. Or maybe you define a truck by how it looks, you like the GMC look.Originally posted by: MIKEMIKE
call me GM fanboy all you want, but i would still pick the Silverado over any of the other 3 trucks mentioned.
the GMC is nice, rode/drove one all summer for work, and it can haul and carry weight, off road etc. the truck hasnt had any issues and its been BEAT on hardcore.
one thing domestic manuf's know how to make other than trannys are Trucks.

You should try out some of the others, and see what you think. I think you'll find that most of the imports can do what you described above just as well, if not better. You may even save a bunch of $ too.
