You know what a Highlander is right? It's a camry station wagon with 4WD. It's not a big lofty land barge like a suburban/expedition.

It's got a very good turning radius and about as good as "handling" as your typical family sedan.

????

if you've driven it, I'll take your word for it and recind my judgment... but from my experience, I wouldn't even condsider a rav4 to be safe enough in the "accident avoidability" department... I have a really really hard time imagining that beast doing a high speed salom without flipping...

Why people insist on driving cars that aren't sporty enough to be able to high speed salom to avoid sh*t like this is beyond me :(

So you are obviously just a hater and grasping at straws attempting to make it an anti-SUV post. 100mph coming at you. Idiot.

If the whole thing is concrete, what's going to start the fire? I don't think a candle or a wood fire burns hot enough to burn concrete.

And a mustang flying through the air is a "Road Hazzard" that your car could avoid????

Actually.... yeah....

LMAO. Big difference between dodging stationary objects at 80MPH on a closed course and mobile objects at combined speeds of 130+MPH when you aren't expecting them on a city street. The difference is that in your Mustang, you would be dead....which is EXACTLY what happened to the kid in the article.

I FSCKING OWN ONE

Are you daft? The people in Highlander weren't doing 100. They were probably doing somwhere around 45-55 where a Highlander could easily make an emergency manuever without endangering themselves.

Plus the Highlanders have so many technical bells and whistles on them, they pretty much eliminate the potentional roll over. And even if they did roll over, rolling a vehicle is a hell of a lot better for you than taking it head on from a car coming at you at 100MPH.

The highlander is a much, much different vehicle than what you think it is. The only similarity it shares with a Suburban is shape.

Why else would you throw attention at yourself from the beginning by putting down others' vehicle of choice ? I'd really like to know your age.

I cannot believe that you are pissed that people find you to be a tool when you laughed at someone who got hit by a car? Are you a fscking idiot? Honestly, you have all the tact of a pile of cow manure and then you get pissed off when people call you out on it.

Calling a Highlander a "cruise ship" will get that sort of reaction out of us.

You're a tool because you're an ignorant fvcktard.
A) She's driving down a city street NOT expecting a car coming toward her at 100 mph! A dog running in front of her? Sure. A car traveling at 100 mph? I could be driving a porsche - I'd still ram into it because I'm on a local street not expecting it.

B) She had 5 PEOPLE in her car. Try fitting that in a miata.

C) Soccer moms don't exist in Queens. It's a very working class area.

I came around a blind corner last fall and found myself doing a 70mph salom between two deer... the first in my lane, and the second 20 feet up in the opposite lane. I did it successfully without hitting either of them. Anything is possible with enough practice and a solid enough understanding of your car. I doubt this woman had either.

I'm not saying that this was her fault, but I really have a hard time feeling sorry for her- I don't know the road this happened on, and I don't know the conditions, but it wouldnt surprise me at all to learn that she froze at the wheel rather than salomed around it...

Well, when you're dead wrong, you're DEAD WRONG. I don't care if you were driving a Corvette and that Mustang came hurtling at you. Most people don't have the reaction time necessary to react to a 100MPH, 3,400 lb vehicle coming at them. Hell, not even race car drivers can avoid ALL wrecks at high speeds.

To blame the SUV driver is downright stupid. Blame the Mustang idiots.

Mustang with stiffened suspension and Z-rated tires for just that sort of hairpin turning....

AND????????????????? You probaby would have bought the farm if the car came flying at you.

I don't know about that. This ain your regular crash test at 40mph. Assuming the Highlander was going 50mph head on with a 100 mph force. I think only cars that design for crash safety will survive. Hench, the car with better crash rating.

You are the guy who owns the V6 Mustang, aren't you? Suddenly it all makes sense to me.

SHENS. If someone was there to witness it I will take your word for it and rescind my judgement, but I contend that a Mustang is too big of a sh!tbox to handle something like that.
