Toyota climbs to No. 2 surpassing Ford for world auto sales

Ford dismissed the speculation that it could slip to third place. ?Ford doesn?t have objectives to be No. 1, or No. 2 or No. 9,? said George Pipas, Ford manager for U.S. sales analysis.

?Our objectives are building great products and improving the profitability of our business,? he said.

Well, you sure fvcked that one up, didn't ya George? 😀

Ford's not including Volvo, Aston Martin, Jaguar, or Rover in thier numbers I don't think.

"Worldwide" sales would include all brands. Besides, the brands you mentioned are relatively low-volume.

"GM" sales include Opel and all those other brands they have in europe. I don't even know if they have Chevy's and pontiacs over there (well except for maybe the Corvette)

How can you be in a car thread and not know that GM sells the most vehicles in the world?

Ford is not doing so hot, but GM is really making strides. I wonder if the day will come when GM is dethroned...

If they keep making ugly interiors. YES!!!

Ah, OK.

Looking at the figured, Toyota also has a much better profit margin than Ford.

Yeah because people hate them so much that GM vehicles don't sell well

Toyota is gonna be #1 and there is nothing GM or Ford or any other company can do about it.
Toyota has a reputation of putting out good/reliable cars, while the other manufacturers were lacking.

I wouldn't be surprised if Honda beats Ford.

Honda is nowhere close to Ford and won't be for a while yet.

Getting an FM Modulator put in so my Nav setup can play DVD movies through the factory speakers 🙂

Nope, we done have any of those over here. AFAIK the only GM brands we get are Saab and Opel/Vauxhall.
Cadillic tried selling the STS over here, but I think they sold about 3 in total and then gave up.

Oh wait, only to be surpassed by Nissan as # 1 in recalls and cheap interior. YAY!!! Well, I wish anyway. 😀

Fixed your post 😛

I don't think any company can beat the ford focus in recalls tho.

The biggest seller for Ford is the F-150, Honda doesn't have a model to compete with it.
