Well, how come I can't call a suppressor a "flash suppressor" and own it here in CA? Semantics? It kind of matters.

Someone called me out on calling a semi-auto MAC 90 an assault rifle. I said the state of CA considers it an assault rifle so that's why I used that term.

What you can or cannot own in CA has absolutely nothing to do with what I posted. It was all about the terminology I used in describing a rifle I already own.

I'm surprised you couldn't get out further than that with a 10/22, Last time I went to the range my friend managed to get a nice grouping at 150 yards with my M&P 15-22 before I had even had a chance to zero the new scope in and he wasn't shooting off of a bench.

To be fair I couldn't match that but it was my first time shooting with a scoped rifle and at any sort of range.

The main problem was the fact that out past 50 yards you really couldn't tell if you even hit the paper unless you walked out there to look at it. A spotting scope would have helped but we didn't have one. I have since purchased some targets that make it easy to tell where you hit it. The brown pistol targets we were using were not good for the kind of shooting we were doing.

So you people wants to ban guns and see no logical reason to "need" an assault rifle, but yet you already have one and because they're fun to shoot with?

Oh I see, you must be a lot smarter and more responsible than everyone else to be entrusted with an evil assault rifle. Because you "need" it.

Everyone else is too dumb, ignorant, and irresponsible to have or need an assault rifle right?

I KNOW for a fact that I'm not going to go shoot up a school yard full of kids. Why would I make that assumption about other people I don't even know? I'm sure not everyone else is too dumb but there definitely are some who are or nobody would shoot up theaters and schoolhouses and we wouldn't be having these debates.

Do I think banning this type of weapon will prevent crime? I doubt it. But like it or not, I think it's coming.

I already said I have no need for it. Christ, let's not turn this into a debate about gun control.

BTW-I cut out the insanely stupid part of your post. You're welcome.

Ah, I was having the same problem. Even with someone spotting with a pair of binoculars it's a pita to see the holes from a .22 at any sort of range.

I ended up getting some of those targets that show a yellow outline around the bullet holes which made things a ton easier.

 I bought those as well. Haven't used them yet though. I've since changed the scope mount so I'll have to start over with sighting it in.

I believe the state of commiefornia calls it an "Assault Weapon".

I really don't see any logical reason to own one and I seriously question whether many people should own them but I already own 1 assault rifle and am storing another for a friend of mine (she'll probably never ask for it back) so having another one isn't going to change anything.

I enjoyed building up my Ruger 10/22 and I enjoy shooting it with my son and I can get this lower for a great price so I figured why the hell not?

Not even sure I can get it yet so all this may be a moot point anyway and if I have to spend thousands just to get the parts I'm also not interested.

so why do you want one? this is completely illogical to me.

Was my post not clear? I may have an opportunity to pick up a lower receiver cheap. If I can even get the lower receiver and if I can do this build without spending more than a few hundred dollars (may stretch that to $600-700) I'll probably do it. If not, I probably won't.

Shooting is fun. That's really the primary reason I own guns... that and home defense. Although, I doubt this gun will ever fill that roll.

Well, they are fun to shoot targets with.

I'm not going to sit here and pound my chest talking about rights and overthrowing a tyrannical government if that's what your getting at though. :p I know people like this... and I think they're nuts.

Is that not a reason?

I also don't want to make this a gun control debate, but you admit an assault weapon ban would probably do jack shit regarding crime. Instead it's an arbitrary law telling you you can't own something, kinda like someone telling you you can't buy 16 oz sodas. And you are indifferent about this?

I don't know, different strokes I guess.

Nothing I can do about it. I would like to see background checks for ALL firearms sales though, including gun shows and private party transfers.

I have mixed feelings about CCW laws and am not a proponent of laws like the stand your ground law in Florida.

I don't have a problem looking at both sides of an issue.

Okay, you win. I won't buy it.

I've been a gun owner for more than 20 years. Never actually NEEDED any of them.

No one needs an AR-15, unless they are in law enforcement or a military that uses it.

Sell it. No one I've read actually thinks that a ban will pass. Republitards hate it and democrats remember how ineffective the last one was. Plus, there are red state dems who are scared. A lot of the other shit in obama's proposal are very popular. He either put the ban into his proposal as something he could give in on as a show of compromise, or he's dumb. I don't think that the man is dumb.

I bought it from a cop down in Texas for $550, MSRP of $1150 at the time. He only put 600-700 rounds through it for training. I imagine I could get a pretty good price right now, I shall check ar15.com.

It is also very fun to shoot ... hmmm
