tough decision! How would you spend 1 billion?

First -- pay off all debt, and invest 100 million in such a way that my family would always be taken care of.

I would donate 100 million to cancer research and programs designed to help cancer survivors cope. Then I would setup scholarship programs for inner city kids in my state. I would probably build a recreation and after-school center for same inner city kids to have a place to go after school. I would also setup scholarships and grants for single moms and dads who are trying to get their education.

For toys, I would buy a small plane because I have always wanted to learn to fly. Something reasonable and safe. It would be great to fly down to Houston now instead of driving 4 hours. I would buy our dream home and put all the usual bling bling home entertainment, pool, nice furniture, etc...

If I had any money left over, I might buy a warehouse and setup the largest LAN gaming facility known to man. I would make it free to students of higher education, and others would pay a very modest fee. I would have a nice fat Internet pipe coming in the building, plenty of couches and lounge areas for relaxing, plasma TV's and an entertainment/dance area.

I think that should about do it.

The limit of 1 billion is more or less moot. If you invested even 1/10th of it, you'd be set for all you ever wanted for the rest of your life. $1 billion invested, even in a set of simple savings accounts offering 3% interest, is equal to infinite cash.

i would buy a nice house, a bunch of land in north california, a few cars, probably a toyota, or two. . . . no cheap cars, i'd probably still work, even though there would be no need, just for the fun of it, there would be lots of donations going on to friends/family/charitable institutions......it's pretty moot as pointed out though

 

I would get whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted it.

a very large dog of some sort, i dont like these small ones and i should like a large terrifying one that would do anything i ask it to
a superweapon - this is a must have to protect my island from anyone i dont wish to have around for any reason
a backup very large powerful but not entirely super-weapon in case the superweapon has some sort of problem.
a tivo, ive always wanted a fvcking TIVO
jewels - raw jewels that i can swim amongst in case for some reason i ever start to feel as though i havent enough of something; swimming in jewels must be a surefire cure for this
an accountant, a rather good one at that

I would start up a couple of new companies(computer software, hardware, etc) and manage them for a while. As my cash flow is increasing, I would buy myself a private island somewhere and like 10 other houses around the world(Los Angeles, Vegas, Redmond, Washington D.C, Paris, Munich, etc.). Then I would buy my parents and relatives houses and pay for them so they never have to work again.
