Totaled my WRX. Deciding on a new car

I have a 96 5 speed Nissan Maxima. I would get something in the 50K miles. Many people complain that the clutch is on the weak side, but it should last till 100K miles. Reliability is very good, but insurance is kinda high for a sedan. The handling and suspension are not that great but the engine makes up for them unless you are planning to mod it 🙂

if you didn't want a lecture you should have come clean.

being evasive invites suspicion.

time for you to look at my sig.

You asked us for advice, you invited curiosity as to its nature.

you posted here in OT, not sure what you expected because it shouldn't have been complete advise

All jokings aside, you'll probably laugh but why not a Ford Crown Vic (Interceptor). You've got a heavy foot obviously... it'll get the job done.

dude, this guy crashed one of the best handling cars under 30K. how long do you think he'll last with iron like that? it's probably even more powerful, too. 🙂

what this guy needs is an old old volvo wagon with clogged up fuel injectors. it will be the right combo of sloth and safety.

Then don't post on a board with 100000 users...

For what you are wanting, what about a Toyota Solara? Roomy, safe, fairly subdued, enough power to get out of it's own way, and can be equiped with a manual transmission.

A used car between 15-20k can be anything. Why don't you tell us what you are looking for? Are you still looking for a powerful engine? Are you looking for a more mature midsized sedan? Sporty? Tell us what you are looking for. I hate it when people just throw a price and say "what should I get?" That's what I used to do as well.

Plus, for a Toyota, they're nice and cheap on the used market.

How about a used Accord?

Decent power (if you think the prelude is too fast already), decent handling, tons of room, very reliable and cheap to maintain...

Dont know about insurance though... but there are tons of them on the used market...

Corolla w/TRD supercharger & TRD suspension...well under 20k, not too fast, and it should handle okay..😛

I would recommend a Nissan Altima. It's cheaper than your last car, but still has decent performance.

You might also might want to consider a stock Subaru Impreza, if you want to stick with something that has AWD.

Also, out of curiousity, how fast were you going when you lost control of the car?!? Judging from the wreck, it looks like you were flying!

two-three year old car

either japanese or Crown Vic

powerful engine, but just enough to not dry every time I remember that it's not a Rex

roomy for the driver, at least

reliable, - very important

well built

sporty mature midsize sedan/coupe

I still say a Toyota Solara.

aren't Altimas not so good on reliability?

also, all Imprezas but WRX are overpriced, in my opinion

actually, now I am taking manual Accord into consideration too

I don't know about now, but in 2002 accord was the 2nd most stolen car(camry being the most)... That would raise the insurance quite a bit this year I would think.

You should just get a beater, save up and get a sti... Just watch out for walls this time... 😀
