Curious if anybody here knows about this Total Transformation program. I've been hearing it on the radio and I've read the webpage but as anything that's "secret", I'm a little leary.

http://www.thetotaltransformation.com/

As Solomon once said, "There's nothing new under the sun".

i read this and it helped us, though my child wasn't crazy willful (and only i read it, not my wife, so she never employed any of the methods and still wonders why my daughter doesn't listen to her):

http://www.amazon.com/Setting-Limits...+defiant+child

it might be available in your local public library along with other books on the topic. it might be worth it to research the topic and possible solutions for free from resources like this before paying for it.

I hear those ads all the time. In addition to my natural skepticism, I don't trust any company that claims it is willing to give you its product for free... which they do in every ad.

I would look at the free claim as a rebate, but it says you have to answer every question and there are 9 lessons and you are expected to take 30 minutes to answer each so 9*30 minutes = 4.5 hours to fill out the rebate form. Given that a 5 minute rebate is redeemed only about 50% of the time and i can see how it they can claim it is free and make a profit.

Ya, and on top of that, they like to lure you with quotes like, "Just these few magic words and the arguing almost ceased!"

Well, if it's just a few words, then why are there 4.5 hour worth of DVD's??

And is it some crap where you just keep telling the kid, "Yes, honey, you are right and I am wrong!" which I think is crap too. How else do you stop an argument outside of a Colt Delta Elite 10mm w/ polished nickel barrel? ;)

Anywhoo...............I think I'm gonna give that Amazon book a look.

For an example of what we're dealing with.....(15yr old girl).....

"But they're MY grades!!" (D is a D is a D. Colleges ain't lookin for D students)

"Internet's a privilege but you need to monitor my use? That's just weird!". (Works the same for me driving the public roads in my car, hun!)

Social media is a biggie lately. She uses facebook to hop to instagram to hop to twitter, etc. We keep telling her we need to follow her if she's gonna do that otherwise a few nude photos, curse words and choice libel and grandma & grandpa are calling wonder what the F's going on with our daughter.

On top of the rolling eyes, not cleaning room, etc. etc. etc. She just doesn't "get it."

Sounds like you need to say No to your daughter. Parents these days let their kids walk all over them.

This all sounds like a lot of work. I think I'll just skip having kids; much easier.

Want to know what I would do, take "everything" out of her bedroom. The only thing should be a mattress on the floor, and that is it.

Outline a set of duties. When she preforms the duties, she gets her stuff back.

I don't trust these commercials because they start with "my child said he hated me and it was the worst moment in my life. That's why I invented the total transformation program!"

So we are supposed to buy a child raising product invented by someone who admits to obviously completely failing at raising their own child. Lol, no thanks.

do/did you pay for her cell phone, computer, internet access?

Does a bear sh!t in the woods?

:)

Ya, we've gone over all of that. Have a cell phone for her I've been paying the extra $9.95 on verizon for about 8 months that she's been without. We caught her and her friends dropping F-bombs back & forth like rain drops and we gave her 1 chance, then took it the 2nd time it happened.

Now it's ipod Touch and similar situation but we' social media. (Ain't social media great?)

We've taken it here & there and then she just gets miserable. Locks herself in her room. We open the door. She turns off the lights. ETc. etc. It's just typical post Y2K bullsh!t.

Texas hiker.....agreed, though extreme measures like that are usually good for an hour or a day, then they become retaliatory when the kid decides if you go minimal, they go minimal. When you take them to the point they have nothing to lose......today's kids take that literally. I ain't kiddin. My generation would've freaked without radio, TV, etc. Today, they simply don't give a sh!t.

Have you taken away her phone and computer privileges?

And who gives a crap if she's pouting in her room in the dark?

Because when you go to get them up for school in the morning & they're still doing it & won't move a muscle & they're 4" taller and 30lbs larger than your wife......you're hosed!

No you're not. It's not a physical thing. It's a respect thing. If it becomes physical, call the police.

You have the ability to make her life very unpleasant, like Texas said. No phone, computer, tv, designer clothes, $$, favorite foods/eating out,......Call a professional and get an educated/experienced answer. And get recomendations because they all aren't the same.

Bonus for me, the wife is a fam/marriage counselor. Convinced me that the bark collar wasn't the best way.:sneaky:

Edit: Source in spot on. She has a door? :DWatch some of the re-runs of the show where the really bad kids are sent to live with strict parents.

If she doesn't have a phone or social media, she WANTS to go to school. You need to call her bluff on that shit. Let her miss a few days, and see how she acts.
