Where did you get this info? It looks like a good deal. Are there any rebates starting on August 1? If so, where can I find them?

Thanks!

Found on the back page of the Best Buy circular for August 1st through August 7th. Price is listed as $899.99 - $150 Best Buy Mail-In Rebate - $150 Celeron Mail-In Rebate. Circular states a minimum of 12 per store. No rainchecks.

For the price its a good laptop. I have an a45-s121 which is similar to this one and it works very well. This is perfect for someone on a budget who really needs a laptop for school or something. At this price its not even worth looking on ebay for one plus its brand new with a warranty. If you buy a laptop on ebay your warranty is gone since all manufacturers REQUIRE a receipt from an authorized reseller. Ebay sellers lie when they claim a warranty. True story.

I have twice purchased Toshibas from Best Buy ($499.99 right before Christmas specials) with heavy dollar amount rebates. Both laptops are still going strong and all the rebates came without a hitch.

Does anyone know if the USB ports are 2 or 1? I looked and can't find anything. Thanks.

From the Toshiba site:

"Does my Toshiba PC have USB 2.0? How to tell.

Check the Detailed specs for your Toshiba PC:
If the published specs indicate USB 2.0, then your Toshiba PC is equipped with USB 2.0 capability. If the specs don't indicate USB 2.0 (or if they don't specify), then your Toshiba PC is equipped with USB 1.1 capability."

The specifications list "3 Universial Serial Bus Ports (USB)". Unfortunately, most likely not USB 2.0 compliant.

The USB ports are USB 2.0. Come on now what kind of question is that? USB 1.1 has long been replaced years ago. Just look on the toshiba website. Its USB 2.0. Simple fact.

Many cheap HP laptops don't have 2.0

]The "Many cheap HP laptops don't have 2.0" should be rephrased to something more along the lines of, "many inexpensive notebooks - regardless of brand - still make use of the previous generation of USB ports". This is very much a value-lined machine, no matter the brand. The proof quoted earlier on Toshiba site (which can be found here) suggests that the system specifications will explicitly state USB v 2.0 ports, when present.

Perhaps you could offer a bit of proof to the contrary, instead of the rude remarks to other users?

I've sent in for warranty service on an IBM laptop without them asking for a receipt (although I did have it). My friend has done the same for a Toshiba laptop. IIRC, our warranty periods were like that on hard drives...the stated warranty period + a couple months buffer. A receipt would've been necessary if we were out of their pre-determined warranty period, but could show that we were still covered based on the warranty period. As for Dell laptops, they can have the warranty transferred to a different owner, so that also wouldn't require a receipt. Not an endorsement to buy laptops on eBay...just an FYI for a few of the major brands.

I looked on the Toshiba website, and while they don't have detailed specs for that model, if you click on Product tour, it shows there to be two USB 2.0 ports on the back and one on the right side.

Does anyone know if they'll be offering no interest financing on this?

Indeed it does. Thank you for pointing this out. The product tour is for the A65-S126 (and the A65-S1261), while the model in question from Best Buy is the A65-S1062. There may be some slight differences between the two (quite obviously, a processor difference to begin with), though would assume products in the A65-XXXX line are comparable feature-wise, in general.

I think the deal at Microcenter with A65-S126 two days only sale is better. It's newer, 54G Wifi included, 60G hardrive and 2.8GHZ processor. And if you apply for credit card you will receive by mail $100 to spend at Microcenter. The price is $649.99 after (2) Microcenter rebates and $549.99 with $100 Microcenter gift card.

That's nice, but I didn't find it on the microcenter website. Link please?

Those sound like some great deals.
I bought my Satellite A15 S127 last August for about $800 after rebates and it has been great.
And yes, this model from last year sports two USB2 ports.
specs/review

Different model than the model offered in this particular deal.

Different model yes, of course.
But my point is it was last year's base model, from my experience works great and if this model has USB2 I think people can rest assurred that later models will support USB2.

This is the one I was looking at. Just click on Product Tour on left side of page. I believe this is the same one that Best Buy will have on sale?
