just lovely.

We are supposed to get thunderstorms today, but tornadoes?

🙁

9:50 AM EDT WEDNESDAY 10 JUNE 2015
TORNADO WATCH IN EFFECT FOR:

LONDON - PARKHILL - EASTERN MIDDLESEX COUNTY
STRATHROY - KOMOKA - WESTERN MIDDLESEX COUNTY

CONDITIONS ARE FAVOURABLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WHICH MAY PRODUCE TORNADOES.

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT PORTIONS OF THE ABOVE REGIONS LATE THIS MORNING AND THIS AFTERNOON. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT A FEW OF THESE STORMS COULD PRODUCE AN ISOLATED TORNADO.

BE PREPARED FOR SEVERE WEATHER. TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY, IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES.

IN THE EVENT OF A TORNADO, OR IF A TORNADO WARNING IS ISSUED FOR YOUR AREA, IT IS RECOMMENDED YOU TAKE THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS: GO INDOORS TO A ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR, AWAY FROM OUTSIDE WALLS AND WINDOWS, SUCH AS A BASEMENT, BATHROOM, STAIRWELL OR INTERIOR CLOSET. LEAVE MOBILE HOMES, VEHICLES, TENTS, TRAILERS AND OTHER TEMPORARY OR FREE-STANDING SHELTER, AND MOVE TO A STRONG BUILDING IF YOU CAN. AS A LAST RESORT, LIE IN A LOW SPOT AND PROTECT YOUR HEAD FROM FLYING DEBRIS.

THE OFFICE OF THE FIRE MARSHAL AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT RECOMMENDS THAT YOU TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY, IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES.

ENVIRONMENT CANADA METEOROLOGISTS WILL UPDATE ALERTS AS REQUIRED. PLEASE MONITOR LOCAL MEDIA OR WEATHERADIO. TO REPORT SEVERE WEATHER, SEND AN EMAIL TO STORM.ONTARIO@EC.GC.CA OR TWEET REPORTS TO #ONSTORM.

caps aren't mine.

I'm not particularly worried because any twisters will likely be weak ones that tear up some field out in the middle of nowhere. It's when you get days of consecutive humid weather that you've got to watch. That's when you get the really violent storms.

Remember that watches only mean that conditions are favourable. Warnings mean severe weather is happening or about to happen.

Is this rare? It's tornado season in Michigan and across the lake is Ontario. Doesn't seem like this should be something unusual this time of year.

its not that unusual but I don't like bad storms much.

we have been hit a few times here from tornadoes over the past hundred years.

The bad storms are the wrath of an angry god, most likely his or her thunder chariot had its trim pieces and wiper blades ripped off by those bastard monkeys or baboons or whatever in the Safari Park over in the London area.

Meh... step outside. it's beautiful. Mind you at home the power has been knocked out for most of the county but that only affects the wife negatively, not me.

My home is surrounded by tall trees. I'm not too crazy about windstorms either. I have had branches trimmed back, limbs taken off and had whole trees removed that were an obvious danger to the house but when the wind start blowing hard you never know what is going to end up where. So, I hear ya.

In 2007 an EF2 blasted through a neighboring town about 12 miles away. I always breathe easier when tornado season is over.

We had thunder and lightening come through about 4:30 AM and I was laying in bed wondering if I should get up and see if we were under a tornado watch. I didn't and it passed through relatively quickly. But in the meantime I was counting from the lightening flashes until I heard the thunder to try and tell how far away it was.

cool. How are things doing? Not much going on here except some stabbings and this weather alert.

I loved trees around my house but storms always cause issues. If not thunderstorms, it's snow storms.

either way it keeps life interesting.

So...uh...can I have your stuff?
You bet! It will be all mixed in with lumber, insulation, shingles, carpet, busted up water soaked furniture and the same from the neighbors houses though. I usually put my pocket change on the small counter area next to the fridge so if you come across any quarters, nickels or dimes I'd appreciate it if you returned them to me. The pennies are yours to keep though. 😉

Nothing ever goes on in the Dutton area... EVER! Well, there was this one thing in Shedden a few years back..........

I swear if it wasn't for the fact I work smack in the middle of London I'd never come back to this city. Not that I hate it, I just can't deal with the craziness after living the quiet country life!

I don't want your crappy domestic stuff I want the premium foreign stuffs from Canadia

lol...freaking out over a tornado watch. You guys that aren't used to weather crack me up. I feel kind of bad for you though, since you really don't know how to handle things.

Stay safe man

It's not about not knowing how to handle things, it's the fear of losing everything you've worked hard for. Stay in the basement, idealy in a bath tub and you're probably ok, but it still sucks to lose your house. Though here they tend to issue warnings just as a precaution and it never actually happens, but I could see it happen down south in GTA where it's much hotter.

I wonder if the torrential downpour we had here has to do with this same weather system though. That was a LOT of rain.

Was going to post pics but for some retarded reason my card reader stopped working in Linux.

We have no tornado chasers in this country... I've yet to see a tornado video as it happens, only the aftermath.

You should be clear by now, eh?

Those storms started blasting us around 4am and tapered off by 10am or so...clear skies now.

Yeah, Southern Ontario doesn't get bad weather. We do get tornadoes but they're usually pretty weak.

Tornado warnings going up now for the north part of Toronto. Heavy rain worries me more though as that's what causes car crashes and flooding.

Getting more torrential downpours here up north. Looks like a completely different weather system though now that I look at the radar. Just a coincidence.
