I've heard that. But I also performed a workaround that someone said would fix the problem and it still doesn't work. Either way, I don't feel like paying for a game whose demo doesn't even work. If the developer wanted my money they could patch the demo and I might buy it.

The THQ Collector's Pack looked like a great deal but unfortunately I already own Company of Heroes, otherwise I would have bought it.
The developer went out of business. The game is as fixed as its ever going to be.

I am grateful I can run it without issue.

And the pack includes 29 other games besides company of heroes. It was a great deal regardless. I already owned all the original Dawn of War games + expansions and Titan Quest + Expansion AND Red Faction 1 & 2 and I still bought it. Red Faction 3 was going for 40 bucks at the time. So basically I paid 10 dollars for a handful of new games and the abiltiy to play a shitload of old loved games without the disc's.
That was a GREAT deal for me.

Thank you for this. I've been playing TQ lately, now it looks like I have another game to hack and slash through :)

The cool part is, since the demo is essentially the whole game, you don't have to redownload the game if you got the demo and all saved progress will still be there. :awe:

Yeah, I noticed that after I loaded the game after paying for it. Really cool! Thanks again OP!

a word of advise is that do not load the epic monster map until you finish the game. i loaded it, my berserker or whatever is at 75 now, and i lost interest in the game because how easy it is once you have a good build.

I missed the warning about how the normal difficulty setting is for people who have never played that kind of game before, and now I'm stuck with a level 19 Alchemist that can destroy everything almost instantly. The Ember Lance skill is insane, you just hold down the mouse and sweep the room for a few seconds and everything is dead.

They seem to be lacking in the skill tree department, there's only a few that vary between classes and I'm not interested in most of them anyway. There's too much focused on weakening already weak enemies, or making them flee. Is that stuff any more useful at the higher difficulties?

If diablo is any indication, yes.

i think i'm playing on hard, and im on lvl 24 (dungeon level that is). ember lance is useful, but not nearly as godly as it was when i first unlocked the skill. i use the lightning fist skill in the battle tab. but i choke down potions like no one's business. otherwise, i'm having a good time (as much as one can have on IGP for the moment)

I'm playing on Hard with a warrior, I'm level 19 and I did not encounter my first real difficult battles with actual danger of mortality until I got to the 7th level in the first dungeon, or something like that. The first enemies that killed me were some archdemon'ish creatures, looking like dragons, and their smaller variants (with orange skin and some of them firing arrows) are tough bastards. I died at their hands (or rather at their claws) numerous times. But I must say that even on Hard it wasn't tough until that part which I thought was a little bit disappointing, but I take it for what it is, Torchlight isn't taking itself as seriously as Baldur's Gate or Diablo does, it's much more "light hearted", and still very much enjoyable that way.

I'll play on Very Hard with my next character.

There is a mod that can change the difficulty setting for your character without flagging it as cheating.

Its a great price to be sure. I run it on my notebook and its got a T6600 CPU and the 4500MHD graphics and it runs fine.

Yeap, got this for something single-player to do on the road. Same CPU, but I have a nVidia 210m graphics chipset, so this should run fine for me too.

Having Steam Cloud will give me a gamesave I can open up from the laptop or desktop correct? As in, progress will be maintained and added to when I switch computers?

Its suppose to from the way I understand it. I had a Destroyer on my laptop and a Vanquisher on my desktop before the new implementation and after the update it erased the Destroyer and now only has the Vanquisher on both PCs. So I think they got a bit of a problem going on. I haven't started a new character yet to see if it works properly. I figured I would wait a few days and see if they change something. My L19 Destroyer is gone for good it seems though. :-(

if you read the forums apparently some people have been able to save their characters that were overwritten due to steam cloud.

Yep you are right! Torchlight creates a backup directory called savesbeforecloud that does exactly that.

it's in c : \users\**username**\AppData\Roaming\runic games\torchlight.

Make sure you have hidden folders viewable to see the Appdata directory.

Thanks for that info. I wasnt too bummed about the Destroyer because he was only L19 and the Vanquisher is my fav. I figured I'd just start over again but I'll see if I can resurrect the Destroyer.

In the savesbeforecloud folder is two files. One is a bin file and the other is a svt file. The bin is only 1k in size and the svt file is 158kb. I'm guessing the character save is in the svt file? If so how or what do you do with it to restore the character?
