How in the hell do you kill the 3 tar creatures in the phase area? They spawn billions of tar monsters that slow you down and kill you. To make matters worse, they rejuvenate. I cant run around and dodge, take a shot, dodge, etc, it doesn't do anything, and I cant stand toe to toe with the 3 monsters either. Impossible..

I'm level 23 btw

I decided to start a new character on veteran difficulty. The game is noticeably harder. On normal I can just stand there with a zerker and just beat things down and not worry about dying. Not really the case on veteran. Dying is something I actually have to worry about.

Ha, I remember that one. It took me about 10 minutes and I gained two levels before I finally got them all down. I ran around the edges getting a few swipes in here and there, followed by the Engineer's flame hammer for an AOE attack. I also had the heal bot going and the gun bot going when the cooldown was up. Finally, my pet has summon archers, summon skeleton warrior, and summon nether imp. These minions helped out where they could.

This was on veteran difficulty and I think I was around level 25 going into it.

Restarted the game and doing a full glaive outlander on Elite. WOW so much harder but so fun.

A few of us have been playing elite hardcore. It is stupidly tough. We haven't made it act 2 yet despite logging 20-30 hours. Once you add a few players bosses start to one shot hard. Taking mobs 3-4 levels below can be tough. I've lost 3 characters in the level 20 range. So sad.

that's masochistic, lol. No way could I play a character to level 20, die and then shrug it off and start over. I would have a conniption if that happened.

I did it with a level 24 embermage. I had to do exactly what you said, run around, dodge, use plenty of heal potions, focus my spell attacks on the large tar monsters and spawn some exploding zombies to keep the little ones off of me. Took about 15-20 minutes to get through it, I kid you not.

Anyone got any solid builds for the Outlander in Elite/Hardcore? Every other character seems decent. Can't get the Outlander to feel as effective.

I switch stat points into str and dex, alternate each level. The level 1 glaive seems to do fine. I think poison everything is the biggest boost you get. So anything that increases poison damage, like poison burst, or poison ember weapon socketing. Crossbows have the best distance. I use that and then swap to akimbo whatever when the fighting gets closer. Don't have much HP since I haven't dropped a point on vit.

I have been just stacking Dex and putting a bit of Vit when I feel I need it. I also use shotgun for mobs / crossbow for bosses. Heal 3 spells and pots sustain my pretty well.

Play as the Outlander and kite their shit as you backflip away from trouble. :colbert:

Holy snap the embermage prismatic bolt stacked with elemental attunement and the wards are so overpowered its not even funny. I don't even use my weapons anymore its basically spam PB for 2 seconds, destroy mob, on to the next one.

Yup, that and glaive outlander are so much more OP than any other build/class.

With akimbo pistols that have slots, put mana drain in each one and just walk around holding down the RMB. As soon as you run out of mana for glaive, it'll fire the pistols, which then gives you enough mana for more glaives again, rinse repeat.

Probably going to stick with akimbo pistols and max that tree out.

I'm loving it! I'm playing an engineer with a monocle with a bulldog named Winston. Running around with a cannon is so much fun!

"Put the lotion in the basket!"

The cannon for the engineer is a joke. It's a room cleaner extraordinaire. I put some +mana per sec gear on me and some +health gear on me (as well as some health to master gear my dog) and I'm damn near invincible.

I love the gun turret for the engineer too. Does decent damage but it's just fun to have zipping around and clearing house.

Hum. How many robots parts are in the game? I've stumbled across 4 so far; no clue where I am in the game - i think still late act ii but kind of lost track 🙂 (level 47 vet).

I wish the gunbot didn't have such a long cooldown, though. And the rocket skill is a little underwhelming, but I'm hoping at Tier 1 and later it gets more impressive.

Later on, you will need more elemental resistances in addition to physical resistance and health. The other thing I am running into in Act 3 is not finding a good enough cannon. It is taking me longer and longer to kill mobs. In early act 1, I found a cannon with 4 slots and loaded it with elemental damage. In early act 2, I got a cannon that was many levels above the other stuff offered, and I found a guy to enchant it 3 times with fire damage. I still haven't found a replacement.

I got a little cocky though, and overestimated my invulnerability. The final boss in Act 2 killed me before I could even think about a heal pot. I though I was safe with my armor, resistances, healbot, and pet healing me, but nooooooo......
