we need details, links, 8x10 glossies with circles and arrows and detailed descriptions on the back of each describing what the circles and arrows mean, etc.

What state do you (JS80) live in? I have a side bet with someone and we are dying to know.

The state of denial.

Looks like you guys are in fantasyland considering you weren't even close where I lived making assumptions like that. C'mon, guess my race, age, profession, income, etc try to psychoanalyze me. You already can already deduce that I'm not a Mormon nor a Ohio redneck.

I would but I don't speak the obscure dialect of fuckwit that you do.

It's an intriguing language, really. I guess I'll be doomed to always be a fuckwit observer 🙁

If someone wants to believe in their God, then so be it. I have no beefs with you -- that's your deal. I don't see too many other mainstream religions that can be as far-fetched as a guy who walks on water, heals the afflicted, makes blind people see, drops bread from the sky and turns water into wine.

This reminds me of the David Blaine/Super Best Friends episode of South Park

Jesus: The miracle I'm most famous for is turning water into wine.
Stan: Can you do it again?
Jesus: Very well. I shall perform the miracle. Behold, here you can see ordinary water, clear, clean.
Jesus: Okay now, turn around.
(Stan surprised)
Jesus: Turn around. Come on, turn around.
(Stan turns around and Jesus replaces the jug of water on the table with a jug of wine)
Jesus: It is now wine!
Stan: That's it? That's how you did that trick?
Jesus: I guess it worked a lot better in the old days.
for my next miracle, i'm gonna turn this water... into FUNK!!!

Because people, like me, continuously are in conflict with their religious peers. There's a lot of stubborn people in the world, and some of these people are our closest friends and family. We can't hate on them and hurt them, and so we vent on the interwebz mercilessly.

DEATH TO RELIGION!

Such are the wonders of the US' Bible Belt. It's a journey back through time, to when the church told the scientists what they were supposed to find.

I think it'll go away naturally, like the egg tooth that it is. It got humanity through some tough times, just as when a parent uses simplified stories to give lessons to children, or how parents must sometimes use corporal punishment to make a point very clear. It's a more brutish method of controlling someone's behavior, but it can be quite effective. For the child, incapable of critical thinking, you must teach it immediate consequences: Stealing from the cookie jar results in pain, thus the child will not steal. For adults, sinning against an all-watchful deity results in eternal pain. As the recipients of judgment get older, the stakes are raised. No longer a spanking, now eternal pain. Similarly, the stakes of praise are increased. No longer is it merely Santa bringing you gifts, but instead an infinitely-loving deity who'll give you an eternity of happiness.

Religion got humanity through its early formative years, though we're still in them. Now we've grown accustomed to the egg tooth, and don't want to give it up. In time, it'll go away, perhaps not by falling off all at once, but by gradually eroding away by the abrasive flows of time and scientific progress.
