I'm not disagreeing with you; but statements such as those bolded make your argument extremely weak. If you see this all the time...then shouldn't you remember the who what where and why? Rants are much more effective with details!
we need details, links, 8x10 glossies with circles and arrows and detailed descriptions on the back of each describing what the circles and arrows mean, etc.

Wholly crap, that site has too much Fail.
Is it legit? I've never met anyone that is so stupid they would believe that crap. (Australia)
Such are the wonders of the US' Bible Belt. It's a journey back through time, to when the church told the scientists what they were supposed to find.

Whats up with all the hate towards religion lately? I'm not religious in any way, but just wondering why so many people have been attacking it on digg, reddit, and now AT
Because people, like me, continuously are in conflict with their religious peers. There's a lot of stubborn people in the world, and some of these people are our closest friends and family. We can't hate on them and hurt them, and so we vent on the interwebz mercilessly.
DEATH TO RELIGION!
I think it'll go away naturally, like the egg tooth that it is. It got humanity through some tough times, just as when a parent uses simplified stories to give lessons to children, or how parents must sometimes use corporal punishment to make a point very clear. It's a more brutish method of controlling someone's behavior, but it can be quite effective. For the child, incapable of critical thinking, you must teach it immediate consequences: Stealing from the cookie jar results in pain, thus the child will not steal. For adults, sinning against an all-watchful deity results in eternal pain. As the recipients of judgment get older, the stakes are raised. No longer a spanking, now eternal pain. Similarly, the stakes of praise are increased. No longer is it merely Santa bringing you gifts, but instead an infinitely-loving deity who'll give you an eternity of happiness.
Religion got humanity through its early formative years, though we're still in them. Now we've grown accustomed to the egg tooth, and don't want to give it up. In time, it'll go away, perhaps not by falling off all at once, but by gradually eroding away by the abrasive flows of time and scientific progress.
