I find it hard to believe that Flash is not one of top 10 android apps, and that some root-user only apps are. there are not that many people savvy enough to root android phone.

It means (like we already know) that developers will make more money on iOS because people actually buy things.

The fact that ROM managers are so high considering that the vast majority have no use for them and will never use them hammers this point home even more.

I don't know a single person who used Flash on their Android, I know a bunch who tried it and uninstalled it though (like me) Flash's popularity is grossly exaggerated

So a rom manager being high in the list means no one buys anything? That makes no sense. It's high because people buy it and want it. If they didn't want to it they could return it. Can't do that on iOS. Your stuck with whatever crappy app you get. What this shows like already said is that Android users like to be more productive.

Laughable.

I use Flash, for a couple free video streaming sites. Its not exactly the most polished experienced though.

As are your comments about Rom Manager Premium being #2 meaning that Android users don't buy apps. RM-Premium is a paid app, you do realize that?

And I'd have to say that if someone downloaded Rom Manager, its a good be they are using it a pretty regular basis.

I wonder why Google lowered the return time to 15 minutes? I bought Reckless Racing and it took longer than 15 minutes to download. I was unable to "return" it before I even got a chance to load it. And for 99% of the rest of the apps 15 minutes isn't enough time to make even a semi decent assessment of a program. Android's app return policy is a joke, and also there are a lot of apps on the Market that don't even offer a 15 minute return policy.

As for more productive? LOL 2 apps for checking weather, 1 for installing roms, 1 for replacing the crappy default Android keyboard and 1 for listening to music. Do you really consider installing CM7 to be productive? You know what this list tells me? Android doesn't have games worth buying. So us Android owners are left with Rom Manager so we can fart around with trying to not brick our phone while we install a possibly highly buggy rom. I waste a lot of time doing just that. haha productive eh?

Now Blackberry owners, there's a group of people that are productive on their phone,

You do know they cut down on the return policy time because people were abusing it? Also your complaining about being able to return something when other app stores don't even let you return apps at all.

Those games on iOS are available on Android so it's not like Android people can't play them. All that shows is that iOS people like to play games more.

Yes I'm complaining, because I've bought numerous apps on both, I've only wanted to return 4 iOS apps out of the 75 I've bought. I want to return around 50% of the Android apps I buy, but I'm never able to get deep enough into the app to figure out I don't want it until it's well past the 15 minute window. As for the games being on Android too, yeah some. But it's a year + later. We don't have Cut The Rope (awesome game) Plants Vs Zombies just came out last week, it'll be in the top 10. And the list is obviously paid apps and Angry Birds is free on Android.

I'll take iOS with no returns over the Marketplace with 15 minutes any day of the week. Because iOS apps are often times polished and work well. The iOS apps I didn't like were because they weren't what I thought. On my Android it's almost always because they were buggy as shit. I don't think abuse had much to do it, with 1 day people had time to use the app and find out it's a POS that crashes and has zero support from the author. 1 day might be too long, but 15 minutes, really? Make it 2 hours at least

Source article.

Reveal Shocking Differences in User Base
I don't find that "shocking" at all. I doubt most tech savvy people who know a thing or two about the philosophical differences between iOS and Android would.

These are top apps by sales. Remember Angry Birds and many other games/apps are free on Android because they're ad supported. I doubt the top apps by downloads would be all that different.

Maybe it means Android phones need a guy coding in his mom's basement to make the phones work....

what it means is Android is so imcomplete peopel are spending hours creating and using apps that fix its problems.

1) PowerAmp because the music app blows. Music 3.0 is decent though.
2) Beautiful widget because people love the weather. HTC must've made us weather crazy or something.
3) Better Keyboard cuz everything before the Gingerbread keyboard sucked ass. It still sucks as a keyboard compared to say the iOS or Windows Mobile keyboard.
4) SetCPU. Don't know why people need this, but I see it as useful in looking at where my CPU Cycles are going. Using it for actual setting of profiles is a waste IMO. You're having an app open wasting resources just to dictate CPU policies. If apps are running fine on your phone, your CPU will idle when screen is off anyway. What's the point of using SetCPU to cap the frequency when screen is off especially when there's a governor (smartass) that does it for you automatically?

I just love people who say it's because all of stock android stuff sucks.... Some of it, yes, but more of it is stuff you can't even replace on a iphone. BTW, Beautiful widget isn't just about weather it is about looks. I change my overall "theme" of my phone every few weeks and I can just get a new skin for it.

As for the keyboard argument, can the keyboard even be replaced on the iphone? Not saying the default android keyboard rocks, but most phone companies already replaced it with Swype or something else.

Oh also, the whole game thing... some of that is due to the amount of money people can make with ads instead. Look at angry birds, there was only a ad version until very recently. The reason? They made more money off ads.

Apps can't replace the core functions on an iPhone. So you can't change the keyboard or the music player, but the iPhone has the best implementation of both.

Weather on the iPhone isn't too great, but there are some weather apps that help with that.

I think this list is bullshit. No way setCPU a root application is on there but something like Angry Birds isn't for Android. Sure, a lot of people may have setcpu, if they are rooted, but are you telling me that more people have SetCPU and a rooted Android WITHOUT Angry birds than do All of the other non-rooted android phones with Angry Birds exist? Something doesn't seem right here.

It's obvious it's paid apps only. Angry birds was ad only for a long ass time.

But yeah, I agree, something's off, the vast majority of users are not rooting their phones and installing custom roms etc...

If people dont use flash player running on android for video and games then Steve Jobs is right. it is pointless to use flash player on the cell phone.

I dont play games that much at home only when I am on the long train/bus ride.
