my guess is that they have the cars only for 1 or 2 days so they can't wait until the track is dry

That makes sense. I wonder how much the results would change if the conditions were uniform for each car.

honestly, those numbers don't mean crap. driving on wet is no way the same as driving on dry. its not gonna scramble the list, but a couple of cars will change places for sure.

Watch the Stig drive in the wet. It really doesn't look much different than him driving in the dry.

Laps set in wet conditions are at least 4 seconds slower than those set in the dry depending on how much water was on the circuit.

I think Jeremy explained why they do wet/dry in the Lambo episode. He mentioned that they originally wanted to do all the cars in wet conditions, but it required a fire engine every time and, more importantly, they just couldn't get the track uniformly wet. Most of it would end up in puddles in certain areas, so they finally gave up on it.

As far as lap times being different, they tested the Murcielago under wet and it performed rather disappointingly (I believe out of the top ten even), but then they retested it under dry conditions and it hit 3rd place.

...and then lost to the cheaper 911GT3RS and Challenge Stradale...

Does anyone else think it's exciting that Volvo's s60r is on that list? Does anyone have that episode? I'd love to see it.

They say subtract 4 seconds from the wet track time to get the dry time.

Isn't the Alpha a sports car, and the M3 almost a Salon?

Well if you think FWD coupes count as sportscars sure.. 😛

The M3 is a GT... and i think by trying to do everything well... it got a little porky. 😕

The E36 and E30 M3s were closer to being a real sportscar IMHO. 🙂
