Can somebody explain what the water spray intercooler thing is for exactly? I presume to keep it cool - wouldn't that be better automated? Do you have to fill up a tank to keep it stocked? Sounds lame. Give me the info!

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. You'd think that it would make more sense to have a thermostat that would trigger the water spray if the intercooler/turbo got too hot.

Glad you enjoy it. 😀

Unfortunatly I do remember the effect of that movie ... I had to pay bandwidth overage charges :disgust:

You spray down your intercooler after waiting in line for your run at the track (i.e. right before your run).

SO I guess you have a small reservoir with distilled water, and if you spray it down you get a little extra cooling? Would you have to do this in the middle of a long race?

Actually it shares the same resevoir as the window washer fluid.

On stock tuning, this would not be something that you would ever have to do except maybe racing on 100F+ days. IMO, it's more gimmic than anything else. But then again, in the land of never-ending rain where I live, intercooler sprayers are kinda unnecessary for the most part.

The evo 8 isn't an expensive car, it's right on with the STi in price...neither of which are all that costly.

Not to mention, a merciluego makes a 12.0 flat, and an evo 8 can't make faster than that. stock.
But compared to the Murcielago, the Evo costs a fortune! So you're saying that the cheaper Murcielago outperforms the tycoon's Evo? What a bargain!
What? The Murcielago does cost more, yes. That's a given. No matter how you look at it though, the Evo is slower, there are no ifs ands or buts about it. The Murcielago is faster than a Dodge Viper or Corvette Z06. It's also a specialty car, very rare, and very exotically styled. Do you get any of the aforementioned three from the Evo? No. The Evo doesn't even begin to make it into the 12 second quarter miles while the murcielago makes a twelve flat. So I'd say the Lamborghini is a lot faster than the Evo, and it probably handles just as well if not better.

for $2400 you can do this to your evo and boost the power from 230whp (stock) to 360whp.

that would take care of the 'lambo can beat the evo in a straight line' issue.

Will it also put the life of the engine down to around 500 miles? 🙂 What's a murcielago's HP? Surely 360 wouldn't be enough to challenge it on the highway.

LOL. You don't know much about the 4G63 do you? Someone mentioned that the Lambo runs 12s in the quarter. An Evo with downpipe, exhaust, and boost controller can do that for under $1500 in mods. It's been done. Doing this mod should give it a little bit more power than that.

It has AWD - of course it's going to have an advantage in the quarter. Start it at 100 mph where AWD is nothing but drivetrain loss, and put it next to a Lamborghini 🙂

He was just saying that the 4G63 is a very strong engine that can take a lot of HP.

That's one of the ways you can tell an engine is overengineered.... how much power you can add to it before longevity is greatly impacted.

I am not sure where that point is with the 4G63.. but I do know that it can really crank out the HP.

Ahem... the Lambo Murcielago is AWD too 😉

Well, i don't much have a response for that. It still has more HP i guess
😱

I can't wait for the new head-to-head comparison. The new Evo MR got a 1.26.0 on the latest show. Three seconds faster than the old one. 😀
