lol, the fear of terrorism? Which in essence, is terrorism. I dont really like to point this out becuase people take it the wrong way, but the US government and media is kind of taking part in terrorism, by invoking terror.

China, India, Europe, etc is going to have so many scientists that we won't be able to stay on top. And no that doesn't mean we should ban gay marriage or some stupid sh1t.

Education is failing in so many places. You always hear about math and science, math and science. Fact is, that's how nature works. Know more about math and science, and you know more about how things in the Universe function, which has many practical applications. That is key to keeping our society competitive in an increasingly global economy. Almost everyone's pushing for globalization too. Education and erosion of rights and liberties go together too, because the importance of these rights is not properly reinforced. We get the government BS crammed down our throats about how Washington couldn't tell a lie, and how all the presidents of the past put sliced bread to shame. They need to know what happens when those rights are taken away, or when they don't exist at all. Sure the government says "Trust us, this is in your best interest." But when they happen to confuse the name Anderson with Sanderson, and you're not the suspected anti-government guy they're after, well, too bad. You can disappear in the night and there's nothing anyone can do about it, because the government took away the need to have a warrant for your arrest because we can "trust them." They took away your right to a fair trial because we can "trust them."
The government isn't infallible. I recall that someone in the Department of Homeland Security was arrested for having child pornography on his computer. There are people with very questionable ethics getting into places of power, and it happens more often than we hear about in the media. People with a twisted sense of right and wrong, or one that's lacking entirely, may be enforcing what's "right and wrong" on an entire society - that is when it is very dangerous to deviate from the Constitution, and the rights it guarantees. It is a contract between the government and its citizens: THIS is what you get if you live here. The government is breaching this contract on a regular basis, yet is convincing too many of its citizens that this is for their own good. That so many people believe this is pathetic.

Extremist religious fundamentalists - extremism is always a problem. When you're an extremist, and you absolutely believe that you're doing the work of the absolutely highest, most knowing, loving deity in existence, there is absolutely nothing you will not do.

There are other good issues mentioned here, but I'm not sure how they'd all rank.
Wasteful government spending, regressive taxes, illegal immigration (just the illegal part, legal immigration is fine though). Demon-Xanth's list was good too:

I saw an article in The Reading Eagle recently, where a PA legislator was explaining why he needed a pay raise, to boost his $80K+ salary. :shocked: He said that "he couldn't even get a credit card because of his poor credit rating."
Ah, ok, he sucks at managing his own finances so much that the credit card companies won't trust him with a credit card, and his solution is just to be given even more money! I am entirely positive that, if he's making $100K, he'll magically become super-responsible with his spending habits, and never spend more money than he has, which is exactly why he's looking to get a credit card at all. :roll:
