it's hard to rank some of those but all of those should be at or near the top of the list.

lol, the fear of terrorism? Which in essence, is terrorism. I dont really like to point this out becuase people take it the wrong way, but the US government and media is kind of taking part in terrorism, by invoking terror.

2. Entitlement/laziness. Too many people lack the drive to become Engineers, Scientists, etc. Schools won't get better until students want to get better.
3. Too much representation of corporate "entities" above citizens.
4. Corrupt bureaucracy, and all of the resulting problems it creates, like the war in Iraq.
5. Weak families. If it weren't for illegal immigration (which is another problem), we'd actually be slowly declining in population. Too few people are having children. The United States would probably run healthy at three times the population. In the next 200 years or so, the rest of the world is going to surpass us. China, India, Europe, etc is going to have so many scientists that we won't be able to stay on top. And no that doesn't mean we should ban gay marriage or some stupid sh1t.

Pretty much sums it up.

Drop this state into the ocean and every single one of the problems everyone has mentioned will instantly disappear.

It might even solve world hunger!!

On a side note, why do people always think the problem with the world is someone else?

drop dead.

Wrong forum, try P&N.

They are all crazy in there...

The P&N section doesn't make people crazy, the topics like these make P&N. These topics are the ones that make people crazy. So in effect, you are attempting to make This thread as crazy as the others in P&N, cause thats just the nature of topics like these.

The sad thing is, I'm not really even joking. That show basically sums up everything that is wrong with America.

There are girls like that in every 1st world country.

And they also represent a very small percentage of the young female population (not to say that many of them are indeed spoiled..)

2. americans are spoiled brats - we have a negative savings rate for the third year in US history, the other 2 were at the worst of the depression. Americans think they are entitled to the best.

3. most americans are lazy, and supported by a select few. This country would have nothing if not for the hard work of a few ingenious and hard working scientists and entroprenuers

4. no drive to improve one's self, family, society, nation, rest of humanity...everything people make, they put towards their self indulgence, and many are happy with a job that doesn't really improve the life of anyone

5. no respect for the opinions of non americans (though this is overblown by most arabs)
why did we go kick the sh1t out of Iraq? cause we wanted to, not because they were a threat, or they wanted us to. it may have been the right thing to do, but there were maybe 100 million people in the US that supported it, and a few in england and Iraq.

Wow, 3 is definitely wrong. If anything, Americans work harder.

#1 erosion of morality and ethics

Everything else stems from it, including the insane number of American deaths per year by handguns. Sheesh.... I've spoken to lots of Canadian oilriggers who would rather go to Palestine (etc) than most places in the USA.

Move #3 to #1. Religious freaks are taking over. A very strange thing in a modern society like the US. This in turn will make the education even worse.

Education is failing in so many places. You always hear about math and science, math and science. Fact is, that's how nature works. Know more about math and science, and you know more about how things in the Universe function, which has many practical applications. That is key to keeping our society competitive in an increasingly global economy. Almost everyone's pushing for globalization too. Plenty of people probably say they don't want global trade, but they've also probably got loads of stuff that's made in Asia.

Education and erosion of rights and liberties go together too, because the importance of these rights is not properly reinforced. We get the government BS crammed down our throats about how Washington couldn't tell a lie, and how all the presidents of the past put sliced bread to shame. They need to know what happens when those rights are taken away, or when they don't exist at all. Sure the government says "Trust us, this is in your best interest." But when they happen to confuse the name Anderson with Sanderson, and you're not the suspected anti-government guy they're after, well, too bad. You can disappear in the night and there's nothing anyone can do about it, because the government took away the need to have a warrant for your arrest because we can "trust them." They took away your right to a fair trial because we can "trust them."
The government isn't infallible. I recall that someone in the Department of Homeland Security was arrested for having child pornography on his computer. There are people with very questionable ethics getting into places of power, and it happens more often than we hear about in the media. People with a twisted sense of right and wrong, or one that's lacking entirely, may be enforcing what's "right and wrong" on an entire society - that is when it is very dangerous to deviate from the Constitution, and the rights it guarantees. It is a contract between the government and its citizens: THIS is what you get if you live here. The government is breaching this contract on a regular basis, yet is convincing too many of its citizens that this is for their own good. That so many people believe this is pathetic.

Extremist religious fundamentalists - extremism is always a problem. When you're an extremist, and you absolutely believe that you're doing the work of the absolutely highest, most knowing, loving deity in existence, there is absolutely nothing you will not do.
"The country is run by extremists because moderates have sh!t to do!" - Jon Stewart

There are other good issues mentioned here, but I'm not sure how they'd all rank.
Wasteful government spending, regressive taxes, illegal immigration (just the illegal part, legal immigration is fine though). Demon-Xanth's list was good too:
#1: Lack of personal responsibility.
#2: Eroding liberties due to various casues
#3: Lack of the importance of family
#4: Lack of the importance of education in key areas
#5: Lack of assuming risk for one's actions.

1. Government is ineffective at managing money.
A) Military Spending
B) Income Tax
C) Social Security
I saw an article in The Reading Eagle recently, where a PA legislator was explaining why he needed a pay raise, to boost his $80K+ salary. He said that "he couldn't even get a credit card because of his poor credit rating."
Ah, ok, he sucks at managing his own finances so much that the credit card companies won't trust him with a credit card, and his solution is just to be given even more money! I am entirely positive that, if he's making $100K, he'll magically become super-responsible with his spending habits, and never spend more money than he has, which is exactly why he's looking to get a credit card at all.
