Radiohead
REM
Smashing Pumpkins

Each of these bands kind of fizzled as of late IMO. Smashing Pumpkins obviously since they're no longer together, but I couldn't get into Machina. Same thing for Radiohead after OK Computer and REM after New Adventures in Hi-Fi.

1. Dream Theater
2. Paradise Lost
3. Faith No More

(...Radiohead, R.E.M., Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Metallica, Sepultura, Tool, U2, Autechre, FSOL etc. come close but not close enough)

😀

i would like to put the great metallica into the list...but their greatest material was in the 80s and early 90s...91 to be more specific....they rose to unprecendented prominence...but the quality of the material has not been great.

1. Nirvana ( dont like em too much but they have a zillion arse kissers out there)
2. Foo Fighters ( great great band , three great albums in the 90s , very consistent) my bias maybe Radiohead should be here
3. Green Day ( dont like em too, but they did sell a ton of records and bring the pop punk music to the mainstream)

Bands that should not be in the Top 3 from the above mentioned lists assuming all of u didnt make personal choices..

R.E.M.
Dave Matthews Band
Weezer ( no way!)
They Might Be Giants
Deftones
Black Crows
Candlebox ( U gotta be kiddin me)
Mazzy star
Everclear

How can you not include REM? 🙂 Granted, I think their best material was in the 80's, but in the 90's they released Out of Time, Automatic for the People, Monster, New Adventures in Hi-Fi, and Up. I dig Foo Fighters but I think they only released one great album (Colour and the Shape) and two good albums.

No particular order:

Nirvana
Dave Matthews Band
Metallica

I thought about R.E.M. and U2, but I like their 80's music more than the material released in the 90's.

Wrong decade doofus!😛

My Top 3:

Spice Girls
Hanson
Lou Bega

😉

Warrant and Slaughter both released their most popular material in the early 90's. They were the popular MTV selections before Nirvana and Pearl Jam took over.

man...a lot of tool fans...never really knew anyone that liked tool, then I look here and theres like 5 people in a row....
and ramsnake, how can you say dave matthews isn't in there? he sells out more shows than nirvana and green day...
weezer is diff too, and I've seen more interest than them than 2 outta your top 3 bands
also didn't know there were that anygreen day fans

no particular:
guns n' roses (check the publish date, it was the 90s.)
alice in chains
pearl jam

I don't think anyone said Live yet...I still listen to their Throwing Copper album sometimes.

Live was a really good band, I loved that album. I cannot believe I forgot them. 😛

Well no sh!t. How in the hell can he sell out more shows than Nirvana? Nirvana is always selling out shows. The fact that he sells out so many shows is because he is the modern day bandwagon for teens and young adults.

In no particular order:

1.) Guns n' Roses
2.) Nirvana
3.) Hard to say here. I like Metallica a lot, but I think most people would say they were better in the 80s. Gotta give credit to bands like Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden, as well as Rage Against the Machine and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I'm also quite partial to the 2 Skinnee J's. Too many good bands to make a third choice without leaving out other deserving bands.
