Seemed a little overboard to me, but one "sign" that really did resonate with me is the extreme reaction to dissent expressed by WAY too many people in this country. This isn't a sign of the apocalypse of course, people have been objecting to dissenting opinions for a long time now without the country sliding into fascism...but it IS a sign of fascist leanings, and I think such behavior should be discouraged...instead of being the basis for a successful television show.

The problem isn't political leanings, objecting to the right of everyone else to have their own views is not a key factor of any political views that belong in this country. I don't care how much of a conservative you are, that doesn't make it OK when Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity or any of the rest of those assholes call people traitors and terrorists for disagreeing with the government.

And there's the problem. Everyone is concerned about what the other guy is doing, but they couldn't care less about the ways they are hurting freedom in this country. If I hear one more conservative bitch about how oppressed Christians are, while at the same time arguing against the 4th amendment, I'm going to have to hit someone in the face. And that goes equally for liberals as well, although I think we are far less annoying about it.

I'm not talking about you in particular or those particular issues, I'm talking about this general silliness where people ignore what conservative are doing but get their panties in a world class bunch over what liberals are doing (and the other way around, too). And while I won't put words in your mouth, I can't help but notice how you object to rules about handrail height but not secret prisons.
