Only in America does a majority of people fall for a top 10 list like this.

I don't think anyone is falling for it. Both sides know this is partisan bullshit full of lies. It just happens that one side is ok with those lies because they want to go on hating black people, Muslims, the poor, and taxes (because public funds should only come from magic).

This is Canada's Top Ten List of America's "call it what you want" a.k.a. "stupidity...

# 10 Only in America... could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000.00 per plate Obama campaign fund-raising event.

# 09 Only in America... could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans
when they have a black President, a black Attorney General and roughly 20% of the federal workforce is black while only 14% of the population is black, 40+% of all federal entitlements goes to black Americans - 3X the rate that go to whites, 5X the rate that go to Hispanics!
,
# 08 Only in America... could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner (the head of the Treasury Department) and Charles Rangel (who once ran the Ways and MeansCommittee), BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.

# 07 Only in America... can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.

# 06 Only in America... would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege, while they discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just 'magically' become American citizens. (probably should be number one)

# 05 Only in America... could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country's Constitution be called EXTREMISTS.

# 04 Only in America... could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.

# 03 Only in America... could peopledemand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. Oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike).

# 02 Only in America... could you collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year - for total spending of $7 Million PER MINUTE,and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough money.

# 01 Only in America.... could the rich people - who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.

Canada? Is that code for Kansas Conservative Lackey?

Only in America can 99.9% of elected politicians be Christians and yet Christians claim there is a war on Christianity.

Only in America can neo-conservative neo-liberal Democrats be considered leftists, socialists and communists.

Only in America can rich people claim that poors need their taxes raised while calling for tax cuts on the richest people in the solarsystem.

Yeah, only in America.

Do you define America as the entire world? Even RT has done pieces on the origins of neoconservatism and they've always defined them as leftists/Trotskyites from the 70s. Even your own fellow AT P&Ner liberal Jhnnnn has stated on numerous times that neoconservatism is a leftist movement that started from communists. Do you believe that if you personally disown neoconservatives that it makes their leftist roots no longer true?

It might be right wing but I don't see how any of those points can be defended.

None of the situations referenced in this list need to be "defended," because the descriptions are highly-distorted, soundbite-characterizations of a much more complex reality.

Apparently only in America do liberals read a post saying that points cant be defended as saying that they can be defended. That is three people so far, it almost seems like everyone stops reading after he says he's right wing and don't understand he says the list is BS.

Probably pointless, but I'm bored.
# 09 Only in America... could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General and roughly 20% of the federal workforce is black while only 14% of the population is black, 40+% of all federal entitlements goes to black Americans - 3X the rate that go to whites, 5X the rate that go to Hispanics!

So, is the concept here is that only white people can be discriminatory? Or is it that if we have black leaders then no one else could possibly be discriminated against? Are you really trying to claim that racism no longer exists?

# 08 Only in America... could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner (the head of the Treasury Department) and Charles Rangel (who once ran the Ways and MeansCommittee), BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.

Yes, because only in America does the people in charge of important things abuse that power for their own personal gain. Glad to know that no where else in the world do they have this problem.

# 07 Only in America... can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.
Muslims were harmed by the backlash. Muslims that had nothing to do with terrorism. Muslims who are peaceful members of our society. Muslims who are American citizens.
It was a reasonable concern.

Nearly every serial killer in the history of America has been Christian, a number of them specifically killed because God told them to. Should I condemn all christians as serial killers? You could decide at any time that God has told you to kill me.

# 06 Only in America... would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege, while they discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just 'magically' become American citizens. (probably should be number one)

I don't think that it is magic that would make them American Citizens. I am fairly sure they would become American citizens the same way every one else did, by the rule of law.
Of course we could solve your primary moral dilemma by simply making it easier to become an American citizen so those people would not have to sit in their home countries and spend tens of thousands of dollars. It would also get rid of all those illegals, since they would now be legals, you could then unclench your pearls. That is the real solution to your problem.

# 05 Only in America... could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country's Constitution be called EXTREMISTS.
No, in any country people that hold extremist views are called extremist, no matter what their views of other issues might be.

# 04 Only in America... could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.
Many countries do not have voter identification laws, but have age limits for alcohol (the government does not require ID verification for cashing a check). In Switzerland you only have to have a sword on you to vote!

# 03 Only in America... could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. Oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike).
Is it Marathon Oil people are demanding be investigated or ExxonMobil, the richest company in the world, that they are requesting be investigated?

# 02 Only in America... could you collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year - for total spending of $7 Million PER MINUTE,and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough money.
Well, yes, only America fits those fairly specific criteria. But lots of countries run at a deficit.

# 01 Only in America.... could the rich people - who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.
If the rich own 90% of all the wealth, and are paying 86% of the taxes, then they are not paying their fair share by 4%. That is how math works.

You are so full of it. I'll leave this here: Some of your Democrat Pikers.

http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-bil...-money-machine-taps-corporate-cash-1404268205

Bill and Hillary Clinton helped raise more than $1 billion from U.S. companies and industry donors during two decades on the national stage through campaigns, paid speeches and a network of organizations advancing their political and policy goals, The Wall Street Journal found.

Here ya go Sparky, the Bircher Brothers are spending in the next year+ what took Bill and Hillary twenty years to raise. Why? Because they want to buy our government and the Republican party worships money. That and it's chump change to them. They also spent close to $900 million in 2012 but didn't get much return on that investment so they are back and upping their money game this time.

Damn, you make playing Whack-A-Wingnut so fucking easy.

This list needs to be renamed to:

The Ten Dumbest Things American Conservatives Believe Are True

Only then would it make sense to sane people.

It looks like every one of those points are true. Regardless of which side of the political spectrum you believe in.

Does anyone have a rebuttal for the actual points presented? Other than quoting " CBD " which is stupid.
With the exception of #2, none of those are exclusive to America. Therefore, the core premise of this "Only in America" letter is false.

What do I win?

I hope it's more pointless, conservative, echo chamber click bait trash!!!

What losers Bill and Hillary are. it took them 2 decades to raise $1 billion and the Kochs are giving nearly that much to whichever repub floats their boat. What chumps they were to actually work two decades for that...

My point there pokey is that ALL politicians rack in but tons of money. Your post implied that the Dems were pikers in grubbing for money and that is simply not true.

From 2012:

http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2012/10/22/whos-winning-the-money-race-republicans-or-democrats

They all look like money grubbers.

You said, "It looks like every one of those points are true." Only one of those ten points is true - those things happen all over the world, and often in far more egregious ways. In no way are they exclusive to America. Open a book or read some world news for chrissake. It's like a bizarre form of American exceptionalism.

What do you want me to say? That list is trash and exists solely to entice morons with a false premise.
